Hello, can anyone here help me understand the following,

"You may provide information on non-school based activities and achievements, which are related to your child’s chosen talent areas. This section is non-compulsory, with a limit of 10 entries and no supporting documents are needed."

How will the form look like?

Which specific talent area are you looking at? It could be very different for each talent area.

There is only 1 form for submission to MOE, even if your child is applying for different domains/schools

          Form includes below inputs
          1. The 3 (max) selected domains / schools
          2. Non-school based awards / achievements
          - period
          - awards/activities name
          - brief description (most I wrote was 5lines - there is a cap on no of character)

Personally I just maxed out all 10 entries. My girl applied for Visual Art and leadership, 2 unrelated domains within same school. My aim was to exhibit her rounded abilities. Her achievements I included some school-based as well which are not indicated in report book. Sucessful for leadership as Waiting list which was subsequently converted. (Didn’t even get interviewed for Visual Art)

On the flip side, my sister applied DSA sports (floorball and soccer) for my nephew with only 1 entry and got through also.

          Hope it helps

            Hi parents

This is a workbook created with data from school finder site. It may be of some help to you in your research on selecting a school based on DSA domain.

            Go to this site:
            https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/sg.parent
And view the “Singapore Secondary School Search DSA” workbook.

It may not work from smart phone. do view it from computer
            Thanks

              Hi Kiasu_pig

I'm keen to find out more abt DSA basketball. My boy will be DSA exercise in 2023, P5 this year. What are there differences between the 2 DSA intakes you experienced? Covid year there is no NSG , so were the criteria very different?

Also my boy is skilled and trains intensively with basketball academy, but he is average height cuz havent hit growth spurt yet. Was height a big factor for your boys' successful DSA via basketball?

We have shortlisted: Catholic High, Maris Stella High, Anglican High, maybe ACS (Barker)

              Thanks for sharing!!!
My apology for not responding earlier. Has been busy lately. I have received a few messages from parents who are interested in DSA for basketball. The enquires are similar. I would like to share with all of upcoming webinars conducted by SGBasketball on 17 & 19 Jan 2022. Coach Victor Tan is most qualified to clarify all enquires. 😀

Yes it definitely helps @AHsDad, thanks!

I have one more question in this regard, will there be an option to upload personal statement?

My kid wants to apply under academic areas, Math&Science. Does the form look different based on the talent areas? Essentially i am trying to understand what kind of details go into the form because we might not have much breathing space there. I did get an insight into the form from another person in this forum, but any further details will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance 🙂

My kid just started P6, thanks for this thread!

Can anyone please help me understand this point in the moe website \"Your child’s PSLE score still matters. Students offered placement in a DSA-Sec school still need a PSLE score that qualifies them for the course offered by the school.\"?

What AL score is necessary to qualify in case the kid gets a CO from school of choice? We have not yet decided on which schools to apply for yet, domain will be math and science. He seems keen on NUSH. Any inputs is much appreciated, thanks in advance!

Think of DSA as the school actually examining the student before PSLE. So if he is accepted for DSA, it means the school has passed him and is willing to take the risk of taking him in. In the past, the minimum score you must attain is for PSLE is for entry into the school at the right level, ie. you must attain a t-score of 200. I'm not sure what you must attain now with AL levels.
