Is your son very sure he will not do science-related uni courses cos chem is usually the pre-requisites.
Have NYGH students submitted their choices? My DS' 1st choice, the last I heard, was Phy, Econs, Maths, History.
My friend didn't complain about timetable (she lived across the road from school, literally) but I do think most JC kids end late due to CCAs and other commitments so I don't think they complain much about timetabling. Those who have the absolute shortest school hours are those who do not take any Science subjects as there are no lab sessions. -
He is aware that by not taking Chem, he has ruled out Pharmaceutical / Life Sciences and the Medical Science range of courses in Uni. Most aspects of Engineering and InfoComm courses , as well as Data Science / Analytics are still available.
Definitely BCM+X and PCM+X are the most prevalent combinations at the JC level. -

I'm not sure how many NYGH girls take Eng Lit in Upper Sec - as for HCI boys, I believe only two classes, i.e. the Humanities Special Programme class, and one other class (that other class may not even be aa full class).
Hi doodbug, mind if I ask what contrasting subj your son choose? So funny that the girl was put in PCME class when she didn't opt for Phys? Does it mean that she has to leave the classroom when others having Phys' lesson? And is there a time interval wasted & extend her time in school just to wait for her actual lesson to start at later time?
Yes, most dd's classmates opt for Econs as contrasting subject, & dd was quite tempted to follow them. I showed dd the sample exam paper for both Lit & Econs, dd said she read the econ's first paragraph & give up reading further. Too wordy for her. Lol! But having said this, she's attending the IP activities for both subjects, & will make her final decision from there. Just wanted to find out what's the timetable for her in the event she opt for Lit instead of Econs. Hopefully it doesn't end at 5 or 6 pm š¬ -

Your son's subj combi quite hybrid ya. Subject combi registration is from 13 - 20/01, dd still have time to consider seriously. She's confirmed take PCM , just got to consider carefully with the contrasting subject either Econs or Lit.

For my dd's cohort, besides HP class take Lit, think roughly there's about 1 or 2 classes of Lit students, not too sure also. I only know some of Dd's classmates who studied Lit for the past 2 years did not opt for H2 Lit & decided to opt for Econs just because they want a regular timetable as in the same class taking the most common subjects combi. together so they wouldn't need to leave the class something like that or any inconvenience.

I don't know about this year's numbers yet, but generally, the school takes in about 1,100 students, out of which 300-320 are JAE students.
I guess either or both...
Out of these 300-320 JAE students, maximum 30 are Arts students. The rest are Science students.
