NUS High School of Mathematics and Science (Diploma)

You have also have to add that it is the only Sec/JC/IP where students have gone thru at least 4 years of Computer science courses (if they don’t major with Computer Science as Honours/ or major) who include coding, web technology, data visualisation, AI etc.
You won’t find that in RI or HCI or any other JC/IP. IT is the most complete Maths and Science curriculum in SG -
Yes this is what i found also and my son is really keen in getting into NUSH, any inputs in this regard much appreciated, TIA!

DS graduated last year with CS honours, so I hope I could contribute some numbers (beyond what can be read from the Programme of Studies) for all who are interested in NUS High CS programme.
Only CS1131 is compulsory for all students, one needs to get a “C” grade to take CS2***. Only CS CAP>=4.0 can take CS as 4th Major in Yr 4. And fewer can proceed to honours programme.
For DS cohort, it was 166 (Yr1), 129 (Yr2), 76 (Yr3), 24 (Yr4-6 – CS Major) and I think less than 10 took CS honours. (these numbers are for reference only, it varies from year to year).
It is true that only NUS High can offer an early start for CS studies (up to 2/3 modules at Uni Yr1/2 level). This is the same for all other Science subjects (Math, Physics, Biology & Chemistry). Just let your DS/DD explore and follow their passion. -
Dear parents of kids in Nush, my son in P6 this year. He is keen on applying through math/science domain and Nush is his first choice. He generally reads a lot and in recent years enjoys more about science, rather quite advanced science actually. He is in E2K science and Math Olympiad programs in his school, and goes for math and science contest out of his own interest, got couple of medals too. Do you have any inputs for me regarding the admission process.
I am also still trying to narrow down on second and third choice, any inputs in this regard most appreciated! -

Did you manage to find out? I hope so because this is a older thread, i am also looking for the answer to this lol, my kid P6 this year
Hi.
Do we need to prepare additional portfolio for NUSH? Or the 10 items we keyed in during the DSA application is the portfolio?
If we need to create portfolio ,how to create? What to include in it? Clueless parents here. SOS. 😅🙏

Dear Lavanya123,
The school's website at the \"E-Open House\" section (link below) carries the talks and discussions from last year's E Open House. Most of the questions you have are answered there, and more ! You can also hear from parents, alumni students, and teachers and get valuable insights into the NUS High curriculum.

Dear parents whose kids got CO from nush, can you provide an insight on the initial application and selection process, my son is keen on nush and i too feel it would be the best fit for him.
And I am also curious what other schools you chose for the other two options, I have narrowed down to Nush and NJC, not yet sure of third choice, hence would love to hear from those who applied for nush of their other choices!

Hi,
Hello,
NUSH has been DS’ dream school and he received his CO.
While waiting for curriculum briefing in October, can I ask some trivial questions:
1. Is laptop allowed in class? Wifi?
2. For schoolwork, any recommended spec?
3. We’re staying quite far from school so I wonder if the above mentioned olympiad training, is it done during curriculum time or after school hours?
Thank you so much.
My son is aspiring to join nush, P6 this year, can you provide some insights based on your experience? -
It has been a few weeks since school started, how has the experience been for the new Year 1s? Did they have any culture shock? What do they most like and dislike about school? Could any Year 1 Parent share their child’s experience, my child has shortlisted this school as well. Thank you.
