Besides some technical or hardware issues, the problem of supervising ART test remotely via video call is CHEATING. The reason for Cheating is not only collecting ART test Kits with free of charge, it is to get a 3 days (72 hours) rest day
(no need to go office to work). This morning, in my office, we have discussed how to verify whether a staff is really having a positive ART results because some we call them as “Lazy” one may just claim their ART test is positive so that they can have extra 3 rest days.

Among our colleagues, we also discussed how to cheat if the ART Test is performed remotely via video call.[/quote]
Frd, I don’t think Chief meant ART is done remotely via video-conferencing lah. He went for his medical review done via VC. I think doing ST’s medical reviews via VC helps to reduce contact & exposure to covid fr crowding physically at the PolyClinics.

I belief the purpose of MOH setting up QTC is so that it reduces bottlenecks & heavy workload at neigbourhood GPs and they probably received feedback fr these private practices as admin staff are falling ill fr the highly transmissible Omicron, and the entire clinic become strained with experienced manpower shortages. Gives most of us, who seek reliable tests results a peace of mind & help ease the hoarding or insufficient ART kits with fresh kits used by these centres.

As we know most of these small clinics partner MOH, but they are staff skeletally. I welcome the QTC affording many constructive benefits as this will focus ART kits under reliable hands & established good records of realistic situation of spread. The other would be a deterrence for those tardy staff who wld abuse MCs which the neighbourhood clinics are obliged to issue.

      Just my perspective.

Pardon me, maybe I’m too innocent, but I dont see how can cheat if the video call is having a live supervisor looking at you every step including opening a fresh ART kit, writing down your last 4 digits of NRIC and date, show the entire table during the whole process & no off-camera switcheroo of kits.

If I'm not wrong, the US is issuing discharge memos based on just phone calls! I recently watched a YT video posted by 1 SG-based Chinese biz traveller who was isolated in his US hotel for 3 days. He was officially discharged via telemed call. Huh?!!
          https://youtu.be/f9y2hejHEN8?t=774

          Anyway back to SG...
By not requiring C+ persons to submit their test results or report to MOH, this would encourage more anti-vaxxers to CHEAT the authorities as well. Anyone can lie he's been infected before and has since recovered.

Yes! Among some friends, we were also discussing how to report C+ so that our teens dont need to rush to take their 3rd booster.

If one is ART + done at home, one can make an appt to go QTC to do another ART for free.
Does he need to bring his ART kit?
            From MOH:
Members of the public who have tested positive on their self-administered Antigen Rapid Tests (ARTs) and are asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic, may make appointments at the Combined Test Centres (CTCs) and Quick Test Centres for a government funded supervised self-swab ART Test. They can subsequently collect Antigen Rapid Test (ART) kits at the vending machines distributed across the island.

I believe the statement in bold is not possible. Lying gets nowhere, need an ART proof of contracting Covid-19.
If there is no proper proof of ART test or if the ART proof is doubtful, vaccination would still be encouraged when due unless one is willing to revert back to non-vaccinated status and redo the first 2 shots again.

Don't cheat any systems, it has no benefit for anybody, this pandemic needs social responsibility to end it.
If you want your teens to delay the 3rd booster like mine, we go for a serology test to determine the antibodies. If the antibodies are indeed low, then just do the booster. My teen has some bad side effects to the jab, that's why we are considering the delay, otherwise, it would be better to have the protection than none.

My daughter told me that in the UK (last year, not sure if things have changed), anyone could just go to a clinic or pharmacy and collect free test kits, whether or not they were positive. The UK was pushing for people to test regularly and self-isolate if positive. If Singapore wants that, they have to make test kits more easily available, and more cheaply.
Germany is offering free ART tests for any walk-ins including tourists. There'll be an official e-report sent to your HP app or that can be printed out on request as your pre-departure -ve test proof. Their ART kits selling in pharmacies costs S$1.50 each only.

In future, we should allow tourists to access our CTCs/QTCs to do their pre-departure ARTs (at a fee of course). Let them queue in a separate queue (by appointment/walk-in).

DS came home earlier than expected these 2 days. He said that a lot of their orientation activities had to be cancelled as there are simply too many cases in his school. I asked if any of them close contact with him, he said yes a few among his orientation group but so far no HRW issued for him or his friends.

BIL was infected last week. He did not even know how he got infected. Sis and kids all received HRW. And just when that HRW expired, her DD received another HRW due to classmate being positive. She was lamenting just when she thought no need to do daily ART anymore now gotta do another week in order for the kid to go to school. ART oos at the few vending machines near her home as well.

It's definitely possible! How would you know if that test kit's yours or someone else's?

I guess the problem is that we can't trust people to be honest - that they should only take free ART kits if they have tested positive or are a close contact of a positive case. If people could self-report positive test results and collect ART kits, and report close contacts for them to get the free kits, then there would be no need for them to go to a centre and retest just to prove that they are positive, and have HRW officially served to close contacts. I believe that most of the people reporting want the free kits more than to be recorded officially.
We were just casually joking about the potential loopholes. There are indeed parents who think that it's not necessary for their 12-17 kids to take any booster so soon. Just look around your double-vaccinated classmates and schoolmates. They are ok after getting Omicron, yah? So why can't we take it after EOY before our family vacation in Nov-Dec?

In fact I feel there are a lot of teens getting infected these days even though fully vax. Not sure if vaccine effect wanes off already as according to the mad rush to vax last June, the second shot was perhaps administered last July, some 7 mths away.

For children below 12 years old, which are the centers that they can walk in for vaccination? Do they need an appointment? Thanks!
