About 200k per child. They can also get uni scholarships/grants, work during vacation or part time during term time. Builds character.[/quote]
200k if no scholarship/grant, no part time job, will be enough?

Thinking aloud. Even if I do not stay with my children after they form their own families, I hope they (with their children/spouse) will visit me at least once a week.

In this case I would need to set aside at least $150 for Sat and another $150 on Sun to cook dinner for them. Simple weekend dinner gatherings alone already set me back by $1200 a month.

My mum needs $400 for acupuncture every month to relive her kneecap pain. I might need that too. Do you spend on health supplements like omega 3 etc? All is money.

And there are Insurance premiums, SP bills, petrol…
And we also need to cater for ad hoc stuff like aircon spoil, fridge spoil…

Probably not. I think you asked about costs in the \"overseas education\" thread. Before. Try googling for up to date info. My daughter studied 3 yrs in the UK and spent just over $200K, and she graduated in 2021. By the time your kids go to university, the dollar amount will surely be higher.

We will likely eat out and I think kids will pay based on what they have been seeing. And I think they will buy me things when 过节

I think I will just take it as plus here minus there. And also I think eg 3k/mth not a kind of rigid amount permth. Can move..

I hope my children bring me out for Makan or hi-tea (!!).. I wouldn’t want to cook so much, maybe once a month will cook so I don’t lose my cooking skills. Am I asking too much? Hehe. (That will reduce your expenditure to 300, instead of 1200) cooking every weekend is quite tiring for retirees!

Use their monthly contributions to buy ad hoc stuffs.. insurance can pay up lump sum..
