They seem to be in the same boat as us....trying to ride through the Omicron wave; with less severe cases but several cases

Need how many weeks or months to get through the peak? Usually how many % of population in order to achieve the 'herd immunity'? Severity on reinfection, if any will be lower I guess..But if comes another variant and the previous immunity not 100% useful, we need go through it again, maybe shorter as immunity/vacc/booster may still work to a certain degree? Looks like need time..
I think we should be able to clear this wave probably latest by end of March at the rate we are going. The severity and infection rate seem to be more negligible with the vaccine and booster. Last week my wife tested positive and she was only positive for 2 days. My entire household tested negative. If assuming actual infection rate is 30000 by end of this month approximately 20% of the island would have been infected. Those with stronger antibodies won't get infected despite exposure so I think 30-40% of infection rate should be sufficient for the herd immunity to happen.

My family is hoping that the visitor no. will increase a bit by end-March - it's my parents' 40th anniversary! If my family and my parents (6 total) can go to my brother's house at the same time, that will be something we haven't been able to do for long time! I would like to arrange for something with more relatives present, but if just the 11 of us can be under one roof at once, that will be good already.

I'm really glad your wife is OK so quickly. Yes, I think it is a matter of time before we get infected and hopefully it will be mild. \"Herd immunity\" simply means let everyone get and recover from the disease, so we can build resistance to it as a community.

Hmmm....so at what numbers we can declare ourselves no longer Covid19-naive? :scratchhead:

Thanks, Chief. I was surprised that I was not infected despite sharing food and drinks with my wife. And because we did not have another free bedroom we continued to sleep on the same bed. Her fever only lasted one night though the breathlessness lasted a few more days even after testing negative again.
