I understand the gst hike to help in govt expenditure especially on covid fight. But shops etc are already increasing their goods prices well before the gst hike. Does the various assistance in place hv impact to cushion the hike?

I just think many bz should be able to find ways to survive…eg…I read charge container for dabao increase to don’t know how much…plus we all see prices on many things are increasing.

Anyways I m not really complaining on the vouchers given though I really find myself having some headache on how and when to use it.

I don't blame the businesses, especially the small ones. They can't help their costs rising either, and if they don't raise prices, they and their staff will have have their salaries cut, when everything around them is increasing in price. I don't think any govt assistance can completely make up for the increases in costs; at most, the assistance will prevent them from going bust altogether.

Wow sounds nice! haven't redeem our CDC vouchers yet..

And SRV expiring end this mth 😓 next time give us cash can.. dont give vouchers lol..
I think the vouchers are very good thing as it forces people to use the money at local businesses, hawkers, coffee shops etc. Cash might just go to online stores, bigger chain stores, or into piggy banks. The CDC vouchers might make the difference between some of the small businesses surviving the pandemic period. I was happy to be able to spend mine (and my parents'!) at my nearby hawker centres.

Yeah of course I’d prefer cash, but the vouchers are okay too. We manage to spend them.

It is much better executed than the SRV, where I know some friends or relatives who didn’t get to use them. Either site crash or not savvy enough to use it.

Yes the small businesses are quick to increase price ahead of the gst hike… I don’t mind an small increase, just don’t patronise them if they increase too much unfairly.
