for a start, i think i will still wear a mask outdoor esp in crowded places like market, public trasnport, super market.
mp, I been wearing mask to shield against sun long before covid. So the current all mask on is making me looks so normal lol.

Actually you are right because Omicron can pass on to the kids more easily than the previous variants. So once a teacher is infected and not knowing and without a mask, it would be possible for the teacher to infect the entire class. The below 5 year old who are not vaccinated will be the group of concern. But that's second phase which is not implemented yet.

If the current 92% of population eligible for vaccination are vaccinated includes ages above 5, perhaps the above 5 year olds onwards are fine in school for the first phase, though it is not guaranteed not to be infected. Their thinking is even if infected, it's ok because they would have been vaccinated, hence would not be critically ill.
Pfizer vaccine efficacy (against Omicron) is only 11% effective for children 5-11yo.

A neighbor’s K1 kid just recovered from COVID last month but fell very sick again yesterday (vomiting, blocked nose etc). Seen a doctor and the doctor said quite a handful of children had such Covid symptoms after recovering from Covid

So I think for those in childcare or kindergarten settings or maybe lower primary, best is still mask-on

I’m also keen to find out more on traveling restrictions. It seems to have eased quite a bit. And for some countries, you no longer need to wear a mask or do testing.

I think you may have mistaken a hat/cap for a mask :rotflmao:

Hmmm... it seems that it starts with 68% and decreases to 12% over a period of one month but that is vaccine efficacy against being infected. The efficacy against hospitalisation is apparently good.

So you are right that this age group could be infected easily since it drops to 11-12% in infection rate efficacy but the symptoms apparently would not be as severe until hospitalisation is required.......but probably more severe than adults.

So your suggestion is worth mulling over it. Someone needs to write to MOH for the lower primary kids first as that would be effective Mar 29.

OT: my dad has his routine cardio appt at CGH. I asked if he could take the influenza jab.
Doc said ok and dad was given on the spot.
Cost: $3.71 after discount including pioneer.
It is good to hear your dad is now protected from influenza.

Is the message effectively put across to all Singaporeans? Why 10 in 10 I saw this morning, all still wearing their masks outdoors? I felt really awkward as I was the only one with my mask below chin. Lol
