My DD is applying MEP this year. Looking at RGS & MGS. She only got AL8 in P5. Is the score good enough? Hopefully she will do better in SA1 this month.

DSA for MEP will depend largely on talent. It will really go down to how well each candidate can showcase her talent. Given that there are around 1 spot or max 2 up for grabs, it’s gonna be very competitive.

If, on the other hand, you are talking about S1 application, will have to put in a little bit more effort to get to AL6 to have a chance.

oooh spots for MEP is so few? ie 1 spot or max 2?! wah thats gonna be real competitive. Will it be similar for STEM?

yar, if the kid is already at AL8 - think wont be that difficult to go her preferred school. Jia you!

It's for DSA MEP with piano. Understand it's super competitive. She did quite well in grade 8 last year (140+), doing dip now. Wanna give it a shot as long as her grades are good enough for DSA in these two schools.

According to source, the date is indicated in DHS student's handbook and is likely to be in-person open house. Best is to look out for updates on DHS website.
DHS open house on 21/5 is e-open house.

Hi, does anyone know roughly how many candidates do SNGS select for DSA-Leadership - IP? As for leadership, SNGS opens to OP and IP hence i presume there will be more applicants. Do they select those who are head and vice-head prefects only? any tips?

I know that their DSA-science domain (IP only) has offered to only 3-4 students in a few years back. I think there are somehow less applicants or if i’m wrong, perhaps its tougher to get in via science.

                  Thank you.

STEM is like an open flood gate compared to MEP. You can't really compare the two.

DSA MEP - they do not have separate spots for different instruments, meaning piano, violin, cello, voice, etc all compete together for that 1 to 2 spots.

Grade 8 is expected for dsa MEP into either RGS or MGS. Many applicants for those 2 schools would also have a few competitions experience/wins under their belt.

If your DD loves music, by all means, give it a try. But do it with open eyes. The competition is brutal.

All things being equal, it's probably harder to get in via the leadership option. Not just SNGS, but probably for all top tiered schools. As someone highlighted earlier, many top tiered schools don't even offer leadership as an option in past years. Some are very specific in what they are asking for, e.g. CGSS - Social Innovation, RGS - Community Youth Leadership. I think schools are looking for concrete examples of leadership that have made a difference, e.g. spearheading a project in school / community, etc.
