Loophole finally closed. More revenue for the government.

So we should just keep assets in cash or stocks or bitcoin to pass to future generations?

Inheritance tax can hit all assets, not just property, depending on how it is crafted.

But the 1st iteration of it, if it is ever reintroduced, will probably not hit most people lah - would probably start hitting those with high(er) net wealth.

Most of us will be old enough to remember the times when Singapore had inheritance tax - that time, the threshold was quite low. If it is ever reintroduced, I would imagine the threshold at the outset would be quite high.

Bitcoin?! Um... better still to normal cash for long term holding.

Bitcoin is too risky as the bitcoin price has dropped more than 20% in past one month and more than 50% drop in past six months. The high volatility of bitcoin must be taken into consideration.

During this high inflation era, the actual purchasing power of cash money is decreasing or in other words, the value of cash money is depreciated and I will take it as a loss if just holding cash money for long term.

For me, a better option is to keep some blue chips stock (hope the share price will rise after a period of time) and receive dividend annually. 😄

Interest rate is going up…now have SORA and my current one is using SIBOR…don’t know which one more volatile.

I m wondering if I should just stay put till the expiry date of SIBOR then change. Is it worth to stay with sibor?
