Crossing all our fingers and toes, and hoping the panel sees our kids’ unique strengths. They are so much more than their paper grades
Thank you!
All the best to all of us who's going through DSA this year :xedfingers:

After the DSA application had been submitted. When will we know of any selection tests and interviews? What is the usual timeline?
Wanted to know the cutoff date so that if I have not received a request for tests/interviews, my son is rejected. -

“Different schools have different selection processes. If shortlisted, your child will have to attend interviews and auditions conducted by DSA schools.
Selected students will receive DSA-Sec offers from schools by Monday, 12 September 2022.”
Better for you to go to your specific secondary school’s DSA website for trial/audition/interview details. Some schools very kindly put all the dates there. So I know if I dont hear from them by that date, means not selected. -

You can check in the respective schools website, usually will state. But I think should roughly be around end June to early July for most schools to receive the first round selection. For sports trial, I think maybe could earlier if everyone is invited.

Thanks Floppy, ok so it seems like sports domain looks like it has a higher chance. Hopefully with the add on leadership roles the child has, it will make the DSA application stands out more.
There are 185 primary schools.
In the ballpark, there are 20 schools participating in any given sport.
There are 10 eligible sportsmen per school.
Total eligible DSA candidates for that particular sport: 200.
Probability of success: 1/200
There are 185 primary schools.
In the ballpark, there are 10 prefects per school.
Total eligible DSA leaders: 1,850
Probability of success: 1/1850
Purely mathematical calculation and not taking into account the quality of each candidate, the number of places available per talent area, etc.
All the best to all! -

Thanks! Indeed this DSA is not easy to strategize when we only have 3 choices to fill.
Hi. Unfortunately, I don't think this question can be generically answered, and even if it can it still depends on the individual student.
For sports, it's really a question of how good the kid is. Some may be a near lock (i.e. highly ranked national player), others may have little to no shot. For leadership, the issue is there are 185 primary schools, all with prefects and CCA leaders. Of course, some will have more in their portfolio while others have less, so again it depends on the kid.
Also depends on the targeted school(s), as some will be flooded with applications while others won't receive quite as many.
I guess one more day to go until the application window closes. Good luck! -

Hi Phtthp, sorry to ride on this chat, I have emailed the primary school.
For this,
I cannot answer you,
because
it depends from which year onwards your own primary school's General office has uploaded the data for DSA. I dont even know your kid study in which primary school. Is up to individual school, how they want to upload their data. Is it from
- from (P1 to P6), all 6 years of data been uploaded or
- from (P3 to P6), or
- from (P4 to P6), or
- just (P5 & P6), last 2 years only ?
Suggest that u kindly go back to your own primary school, clarify with your General Office, find out how many years data have been uploaded. This way, you will be very clear.
What you see inside your Report card, is what they get.
This means that
besides score marks alone, each subject upon 100, whatever comments the Form Teacher has written about your kid , whether comments written are good or bad inside the Report card, for the number of past years' data thats been uploaded into server by General office staff, Yes, the Secondary school panel of interviewers all can see. Can't hide.
This is what i got as a reply \"DSA Portal will only extract P5 and P6 data. Every child is allowed to submit an extra 10 entries when applying for DSA.\"
Does this mean that those awards my child had received from P1-P4, I need to key into the 10 entries? or all previous awards P1-P4 are not applicable for DSA application?
Thanks -
