Pardon me for being frank. I think there will be no outcome from this case but this reporting to police would serve as a strong reminder to the helpers not to think of anything funny.
Moving on, be careful with the cash lying at home to prevent any incident.
My old dad lives with a helper and a tenant. I keep his passbook and atm card. I left with a fixed amt of cash (<$20) in his wallet and I let both know the amt. I check his wallet once a while to make sure the amt is still there. My dad doesnt spend any money bec everything is provided for and he has limited mobility which makes leaving the house quite challenging. So far still ok. -

That's a good idea to maintain his money. Does your dad have alzheimers? If not, would he feel you might be cramping his ability to manage his own money?

Hence if i want to ask $$ from him, I hv to tell him 1st
He has nothing to buy and hence some $$ in his wallet is to make him feel :imcool:
He has no jewel. There is nothing expensive in the house and there will be no misunderstanding among the 3 in the house. -

Same same for my FIL before he passed away in March. My DH locked 5K cash in a drawer at FIL room but would give him the key whenever he wanted to take out the money. However, FIL seldom went out and had nothing to buy. There is no chance for the helper to steal anything from us.

He has money to ask the helper to buy him some snacks/coffee whenever he wants…

in my case, none is allowed to leave the house unless we have been informed.

My dad has limited mobility and hence going out is a challenge unless we ie his children are around.
He does go to the Senior Care Centre once a week. -
My parents still has this gigantic safe at home to keep their valuables. I think it helps to deter contractors/helpers from taking things that are not theirs.

If both helpers do a Polygraph test, I am sure the lie detector machine will be able to tell who is lying? If both police and machine both can’t tell helper A or helper B is lying, then I wonder how they solve more serious crimes.

We have a safe at home bought 20yrs ago when I hire our 1st helper but we don’t lock everything inside.
We have a few thousands in cash and some gold jewelries in my bedroom but so far all intact. Only the money left in the living room gone. Maybe not taken by my helper. She needs the job so I don’t think I will sack her unless proven guilty. -
any recommendation on value for money Filipino restaurants? thank you.

I am first time hiring maid for my first newborn baby in oct 2022. I really have no choice but to hire a maid as there is no infant care slot near my house and the waiting lists are 1 year plus. Both of us are working full time and dont have much help from our parents.
Would like to seek your advice:
1) when do I need start looking for maid agencies? I whatsapped many agencies but many told me that they will send me profiles in Sept only. Many agencies dont even respond to our whatsapp. I thought that we need time to find the right candidates and need 1 to 2 months to process overseas maids.
2) What to look out for when interviewing the maids?
3) I prefer to hire indo/mynmar maid as I heard Fillipino maids though their communication are better, they are more demanding in their requests. What are your experiences with indo/mynmar maid in handling baby?
