For some people, having a place in Phase 2B is a privilege, not a backup 😂
I think @Das is very lucky. He should just go for HPPS in Phase 1, failing which he can go for the school near him in Phase 2B or 2C. So many chances. :rahrah:
Chief, in my opinion he has displayed hard work and commitment in getting his kids on the most suitable path! Man. Not many (dads) who has alumni status in a GEP school would put in 40 hours of PV work in another school near home. I don’t think he is plain lucky.

I like that u largely agree with my advice though. Oh, it’s “HPPS in Phase 2A”, not Phase 1. You’re welcome!

There isn’t a dilemma since you aren’t force to choose between A or B at the same time.

I’ll go with HPPS in Phase 2A. HPPS is likely to ballot for SC > 2km so it won’t be a given. Who knows, your god(s) maybe so kind that they would probably help you missed the ballot and take away your concerns about logistics and what not.

In Phase 2B, just go with the next door school that you were serving PV in. Of cos, if you were unfortunate enough to get into HPPS in Phase 2A, you should just ignore about Phase 2B and the next door school.

Personally, I favor HPPS. Forget about the labeling (GEP), it doesn’t really mean much apart from having 1 or 2 bestest class compared to the others. The real plus point/ strength that HPPS has over the schools in your Phase 2B consideration is history, both past and future. HPPS is 45yo this year whereas the oldest primary school in Sengkang, not including NCPS, is only 25yo. Such history probably means f all for most people but I like being connected to a part of err… history. Furthermore, if you move the timeline forward by another 45years, it’s far likely that HPPS would be still around while a number of SK schools will disappear (or in MOE parlance - “merged”).

Really, you would like to be part of history? I wish to live in boring, placid, prosperous times when nothing happens. Cos I believe the Chinese saying \"May you live in interesting times\" is a curse leh... 😂

Usually parents prefer their kids to study in those schools with long history in Singapore. 十年树木,百年树人.

                A wise man said...
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.

                And then a song goes...
                We didn't start the fire
It was always burning, since the world's been turning.

There is no such thing as a time when nothing happens. But we digress.
