I like kids to be at home..everything much easier.
when they were much younger (up till secondary school), I would want them to be home.
advise them what are the dos and the don'ts, especially to my girl.
till now, I still remind my girl to hold on to the values and to remember self respect.

daughter's psychiatrist recommended me this book...it's called 'the self driven child'.
occasionally I do read those pages which I put some bookmarks to remind myself when she drives me nuts.

tomorrow is son's ORD. i don't have to wash army uniforms until he has reservist.

I try not to go for novel on family affairs and the relationship between family members as it may cause me to recall lot of nightmares in the past. :siam:
It’s my first time reading this genre. I usually read Sci-fi, no scary family relationships there 😉

Am thoroughly enjoying this ebook that I’ve just borrowed. Have not read fiction (instead of parenting books) in a long time:

The Latecomer by Jean Hanff Korelitz.
Me too! Being a mom, I’m always reading parenting books.. books on children, self-help and at times biography of inspiring people.

Recently I started reading this series by Jennifer lynn Barnes and was hooked. The Inheritance Games, The Hawthorne legacy and I’m still waiting for the sequel, the final gambit. Meantime, also reading Fahrenheit 451. My friend’s son is taking O-level on this book.

I may be spoilsport for some . I used to read alots. But I come to realised, if it’s self help books, what you read may work for that author but may not be for you. And I also realised you will lose your ability to think what is really best for yourself if all the ideas in your head are from others (book) -others’ hope and fears, which may or may not apply to your situation, or as much as the author’s. I think can use those ideas as starting framework. But adjust yourself as you go along by what your own observations tell you of your very own situation 🦆

And books are like maps. To arrive at the destination, we have to do the walk. Only Keep going back to the maps again will not get us to our destination. :siam:

Why? I think you should be happy reading those books, it means you get leisure time away from the kids haha

I agree with bbbay with regards to self help books. I don’t read much of those. Think I read only 7 habits of highly effective people and who moved my cheese (if you can even consider that self help). Read those because company sent me for those trainings.

I prefer to read fiction and biographies. Reading to me is leisure so I don’t want heavy topics.
