unknown factor will be how the changes in the Active Community Leaders scheme affect overall phase 2B applications. any thoughts on how the within 2 km rule may have an impact as this is the first year this rule is in place.

Liew Nga Wing\" post_id=\"2072515\" time=\"1656560990\" user_id=\"195250:
I have worked out the prediction as below :

Total Places available to Phase 1 and Phase 2A = 210
Number of Applicants in Phase 1 = 89
Leftover for Phase 2A = 210 - 89 = 121

Based on last year (2021) data : Number of applicants in Phase 2A(1) + Phase 2A(2) = 45 + 26 = 71

Left over for Phase 2B + Phase 2C = 121 - 71 = 50

These 50 places - 1/3 will go to Phase 2B (17 Places) and 2/3 will go to Phase 2C (33 Places)

For Phase 2B -
Total Places available = 20 + 17 (Places leftover from Phase 2A) = 37
Based on last year (2021) data : Number of applicants in Phase 2B = 39
And therefore Balloting may be required in Phase 2B

For Phase 2C -
Total Places available = 40 + 33 (Places leftover from Phase 2A) = 73
Based on last year (2021) data : Number of applicants in Phase 2C = 116
Balloting will be required as 116 applicants vs 73 places
The total places for Raffless Girls' Primary is 270 and the 210 places available for Phase 1 and Phase 2 is already excluded the 60 places to be reserved for Phase 2B and 2C. Could help me to double check the data from MOE website again.
Oops... so sorry. You are right that you have already included the 60 reserved places. My bad!

Hi Floppy, do you mean 2C will probably ballot for those within 1-2 km?
Me bad. Yes I mean 2C

Thanks Floppy. How do you think phase 2b for rgps may be affected this year by the changes in grass root rules? Last year was unusually high number of applicants at 39 given usual no of PVs only about 20.

RGPS?

2B will be safe as you are unlikely to have more than 20 that meet the phase conditions. <= Last year 2B intake was almost 40 and it was rising trend from the previous years. I understand that 20 seats are for school recruited PV (correct me if im wrong) and the rest is GRL so a bit unknown for total number of GRL. 🀷

2A will probably be 1-2km <= Will ballot from 2A already? oh my... :gloomy: :gloomy: :gloomy:
Sorry, me bad. I mean 2C. For 2B, I wanted to say 40, not sure why I type 20 πŸ˜†

2A will be very safe for RGPS. They will get less than 50 applicants.

2B will be ~ 40 applicants. PV is tied to the school (~20), but GRL (within a 2km catchment) will be spread between NYPS, SCGS etc. IMHO, both NYPS and SCGS will have far greater appeal than RGPS (to GRL) if they are living < 1km to NYPS and < 2km to SCGS.

2C will likely be 1-2km if less than 100 places are available.

The PVs are fixed/determined by the school. I was thinking 2B GRL will go down due to the 2 km distance constraint this year and nearby alternatives. Previously, the 2B option for RGPS could attract those much further away (if I have my map correct). Could be wrong though, just my initial reaction and not sure exactly where 2 km extends to.

Yes.
Given that NYPS and SCGS are within reach for some in the 2km radius, I don't think RGPS would be the top priority for this group (GRL). It may attract those further away, but those further away will also have other options to consider.
Hence, my suggestion that ~40 is probably the max in that phase.

If you work the math,
210 - 89 = 121 places for Phase 2A
121 - expected 50 = 71 places to be added to the pool for Phase 2B and 2C
(71 / 3) + 20 = 44 places for Phase 2B

Which would just about meet the ~40 demand.

2A1+2A2 has been around 60-70 in the past 3 years. This may result in ballot of 2B

What I meant was if 2B applicants totaled 39 last year, it won't be that high this year assuming the PVs are the same. Last year you could get GRLs from anywhere in the GRC. Now GRL must be within 2 km.

Maybe you are kind of saying the same thing with \"max 40.\"

Anyways, I'd think people will have a good shot here.

thanks all for the comments on phase 2b. i do think too that in general the no of 2B applicants should be lower due to the 2 km requirement and this will change the trend going forward baring any further changes in policy again. Policy changes are very stressful to parent.
