Oh, number of items and their qty I do scan to check. Just never note their unit prices. Offer or no offer also I never take note.
I suggest to scan through all receipts because I have enough encounters to know that mistakes are rampantly made by people. There is also a category of people who make deliberate mistakes like an experience I had at an eatery where ppl would queue for the food and order many items. So, they just pay without looking at their bill. This fellow did not know I had a good sense of numbers and he entered 2 lines of extra $2 without attributing to any food items, like a generic code for scamming customers. I was not nasty to him at his dishonesty, just asked him to refund the $4 to me and he did so sheepishly.
Even the auto scanning machine I use at supermarkets can sometimes scan an item twice, it happened to me before, overly sensitive gadget so I always do a quick scan over all bills as a habit.
Yesterday went with DD to tabao dinner. She ordered 4 items but on the bill they indicated only 3 and she paid for 3 and noticed the mistake only when waiting for them to pack her stuff. But when they gave her the takeaway, there were 4 packs so she told me they gave 1 pack free leh, cos they forgot to bill, I told her to go back and pay for that pack as it is not easy being a hawker. -
Persistent rising prices for common commodities are certainly unsustainable esp for the lower income & those w/o income.
In times like these, u’ll see the greedy merchants & the few kind ones still resisting fr escalating prices. But these kind souls are smaller in numbers & far btwn.
I really wish the authorities step in fast to regulate & prevent inordinate price rises. I rmbr way back in the 69s/70s, Jek Yuen Ting’s wife initiated the NTUC Fairprice to curb rice fr escalating as there were merchants who hoard & profit in difficult situations. It’s better arrested sooner than later before the merchants gets ‘richer’ & the marginalized & poor faces hardship, stress & malnutrition. -
I check my items too. And many times my purchase affected by promo. No promo I don’t need to buy…so make sure they billed me at promo price.

Not long ago…I briefly read a lady like what…eat more rice or rice only? If prices still continue going up that is no good.

Yes, I buy promo items. If no promo, then wait for promo.

Some items are 50% discount. I seriously wonder when no promo, how much profit the merchants are making. Even with 50% discount, I doubt the merchants are selling at a loss. -

I am really not a savvy shopper. And I do not like shopping. So I just zoom in and grab what I need and zoom out. I buy because the item is needed so promo or not, I will still get it. If have promo and I noticed, for non-perishables, maybe I might just double the qty if they are things that are frequently used. If not, even if there’s promo also I will just get the qty that I need for that moment.

Don’t know where to post this question, but I’m sure some people here can help!
We have a friend from overseas who will be in Singapore overnight in a couple of weeks time. We plan to pick her up at the airport (flight arrives at around 3+pm) and take her to the Marina Bay area to have a look and say ‘hi’ to the Merlion before going home for dinner.
My question is: where is a convenient place that will have parking at that time on a weekday, and won’t cost the earth? Just for an hour or so. -

Same same here, I only shop what I really need and never over buy due to promotion.
