It tends to vary by school. Some will do the above; others will inform in Sept, at which point it was already obvious...

This year may be different; due to the shortlisting and interview phases perhaps there will be more definitive updates along the way. Or schools could change the standard operating procedure as well...
      Thank you.

I guess the one thing I've learned from this entire exercise is that there is no consistency in how the schools run their respective DSA process. This is quite unfortunate as it leaves the children (and their parents) in a state of uncertainty and confusion. Everyone ends up coming to KP (no issues here) to check, cross-check and double-check and even after doing so, it's still anyone's guess. For example, e-mails come out at different dates for different domains in the same school.

It might be better for schools to set some firm timelines for notices so that everyone knows what the key dates are and if replies are not received by those dates, then it's time to move on. Students and parents take a lot of effort to apply for a DSA spot so if the schools can help numb that anxiety (esp. during an already stressful PSLE year), that would be beneficial for all involved.

The DSA application is through a centralized portal with information on the report card sent via MOE systems. All applicants are limited to 10 entries for non-school supporting.

I thought that this already made the process very centralized. Can you imagine each school having their own website or paper-based process and formats?

Good that RI let everyone to have chance to take the trial.
I tend to agree. It's a good experience for all of the kids that applied (if true). Also likely some good marketing for the school. Some kids will be fired up to make it there one way or another. :rahrah:

Hmmm if it is true that they allow ALL applicants to sit for the test, that would mean that those selected for interview will be based on both the results of the selection test AND their achievements/ academic results in school it seems. Cant just be based on the results of the selection test right? :xedfingers:

I don't think RI filter anyone for round 1. I believe that everyone who applied received invitation to sit for trial. For academics - my DS number is #6XX, might have more than 500 attended the trial exam. For Sports domain that my DS applied, they did mentioned that they invited everyone to take the trial. There will be a second trial this Friday, for the shortlisted kids. Good that RI let everyone to have chance to take the trial.

Aiyah, I was referring to the notification of outcomes not the submission process. Yes, I think I'd go insane if every school had a different submission and notification process. Mastering that itself could be considered a DSA domain. LOL! :rotflmao:

Be glad you didn't have a kid four years earlier. I think before 2019 that was the process 😂
