This is based on my observations, talking to friends who are in the industry and feedback from parents.
The first preferred pick will be from that pool. That’s the best way to benchmark or predict PSLE results. No surprises or stressing the secondary school system later on.
For academic domain, only the tests from elite schools are considered. So, if a child is in neighbourhood school, chances are, the school will not be invited for the tests thus no matter how good you are, you will not get past shortlist round. Thus, DSA is irrelevant because the most reliable means of getting into a good school is based on PSLE results.
Just my thoughts going through this process now.
Not true. That allegation defeats the whole purpose of dsa and cast doubt on the integrity of the system.

My girl went for a top school DSA selection last Saturday. There was a good mix of students from different primary schools, including neighbourhood schools, even for the academic domains.

Don't know for sure but guess would be low-to-mid single digits. Chatter is that it was on the lower end of that range last year (no firsthand knowledge though).

Not true. I met students from neighbourhood schools during RI DSA test early July.
My son and his friends are studying in RI and they were from neighbourhood school too. They received offers through DSA last year.
Their PSLE results were between AL4-6. Many of DSA boys are with AL4-5 in my son’s class.
So, DSA selection is not based on elite school or from GEP group. As long as the candidate meets their selection criteria, chances are there.
Ultimate goal is focus & do well in PSLE and can have more choices to choose from.
                      All the best!

Agreed. My kid is from a neighbourhood school and he has friends who were shortlisted for DSA in academic domains.
