Love the optimism.
I had a couple of times blurted out excitedly: “Hey, good news…” or “Hey, look at this!” and the kid came running over with face lit up: “Is it what I think??”
In the end, it was just some mundane thing I wanted to say like I managed to find the exact type of pencil case he was looking for…made him so crestfallen at the anti-climax.
So now I have learnt *not* to use the phrase “good news”. I just say whatever it is straightaway.
We were on waiting list for a tour group holiday…supposed to inform us end-June whether got seats or not…i didnt chase anything, thought no hope liao, ytd 20 July they called me and said got 2 seats given up by others, do we still want the tour. Straightaway told son this news (without using “good news” lol), he said let’s go. And let’s not give up hope while waiting for DSA either.[/quote]
It ain't over till it's over, and even then... it's not really over since there's the PSLE. And even after that, it's just an exam and there's much more which lies ahead. This is just a step (an important one no less) but it is only a step. It isn't the be all and end all, but our kids are subject to immense pressure and as parents, we owe it to them to reinforce the believe in themselves irrespective of what the DSA results, PSLE results etc. are.
Anyway, enjoy the holiday and make it count! I could do with one myself... but not as much as my kid

just sharing info here. My DD went to DSA netball selection trial in RGS on 19 July. She said 23 students there. Most are from neighbourhood schools.
