No I’m saying it’s relative to my school. Say there’s only a handful of people who gets AL1 for EL in my school, a SAP school, Compared to 20-30 plus people who gets AL1 for math. I’m just thinking which subject do I stand more chance in?
Ask the kid for his/her preference. School results may not be a sufficient gauge of interest/aptitude. IP schools are usually looking at achievements beyond school activities (e.g., national/international competitions).

The number of successful DSA students via Maths and Science is usually much more than those via Languages.

All the best to your child.

Oh just to add on, I’m thinking they might be comparing our results to our own school cohort right? Thanks.
I doubt they know the results of the rest of the students in your own school cohort. I believe they will look at your results as it is plus perhaps they have an idea of the various school standards.

The child will be compared with all applicants across schools, not just those from the same school. It's hard to stand out with just AL1 and nothing else, regardless Math or English, unfortunately.

            1. DSA schools are looking across their list of applicants. They do not know the breakdown of the results in your own school. Even if they do, it's not that critical since they will usually consider a wide spectrum e.g AL 1 to 3 (or even 4) than just purely AL1. It's the other 'extra' bits that they are looking at and looking for as per the earlier comments by coast and Anotherday.

            2. You either put your best subject or your favourite subject first (we deal with that below). Don't try to work the odds. There is NO QUOTA per subject. Hence, if there are 50 math DSA applicants and 25 of them are outstanding, the school can offer 25 DSA CO to math applicants. On the other, there may be 20 EL DSA applicants and only 1 is outstanding. The school will choose to offer 1 DSA to EL applicants. Put simply, if you are trying to work the odds, you are not going to go anywhere if your talent area is less than satisfactory.

            3. As for favourite subject, some people don't want to choose their best subject due to the DSA commitment if selected (which Lavanya123 has explained). This is understandable. Hence, if you are feeling that way, pick the one that you prefer.

P/S: the consideration is obviously different if you have to choose between sports / arts and academic talent area. There ARE limited places for sports / arts due to the inherent size of a team.

Should be, as email mentioned \"There is NO alternate date for the selection test/interview. Absence from this selection test/interview will deemed your child’s withdrawal from this DSA application.\"
