Anyone here has a kid that had done for the selection test and interview on 16th July? We were instructed to bring along the supporting documents for checking but my son said that his documents is not checked.


Maybe he did not make the “cut” so no need to check?

no worry, my son also brought all documents, but no one verify them.
The session is only for 1 hour, 30 mins for the test, and 30 mins for a group interview. Quit tight.

I’m surprised and sorry to hear that despite your son’s achievements he wasn’t shortlisted; it’s possible that international students get much rarer quota than locals.

Can consider codinglab or sgcodecampus they’re quite decent in programming lessons and have online/Zoom class option too. But for some the classes could feel too slow.

I’d suggest C++ and competitive programming instead of Java. Or if making app/product is the aim, then mobile app dev and web stack are better. Also, in the industry, Java’s fate is now like PHP where its usage is mainly on existing/legacy systems, new & innovative tech companies no longer start with Java.

Is there anywhere in \"black & white \" printed out , that state -

1)
If a P6 DSA applicant study in an International school, and not in a local primary school,
then MOE \"Non-Independent \" Secondary schools eg. National Junior College
will not even consider them ?

Or

2)
If P6 DSA applicants study in International school, not in a local primary school, then \"Independent \" schools like

(NUS High / SST / RI / RGS / Hwa Chong / Nanyang Girls High / ACSI / MGS / SJI / SCGS)

will also not offer them any CO nor Waitlist ?

My son was from int’l sch in Singapore at that time, bcos he came here when he was in P6 so he couldn’t join AEIS hence we put him in int’l sch but he kept doing SMO junior, SIMCC competitions, etc etc and he got more certs
His choices were all top sch like RI, ACSI and NUSH
His AEIS result was accepted in neighbourhood sch (bottom ranked) but we rejected

There are no “black and white” stated that int’l sch student cannot get accepted in those non independent/independent
but we know there’s one friend from overseas who won IMSO and got approached by NUSH talent search team during the award ceremony and finally got in (2019)

Dear parents, My DD received an interview for MT (Malay) DSA at SCGS. Do you know whether the interview will be in the Mother tongue (Malay) or English? The interview slot is only 15 mins. Not sure what to prepare. Any tips would be good. Thanks in advance.
