Thank you 😊
I recall reading earlier that the chances of a WL being converted into a CO are quite decent but I don't know where I saw it and don't have the exact percentages either. -

It's hard to distinguish SAP schools from normal secondary schools nowadays, they all spoke English as their normal communication. Even in their school compounds. Maybe you only heard of SAP schools like NYGH of HCJC coming out top in chinese competitions only. Top JCs are still RJC or HCJC, NYJC is improving every year and it had overtook the old favorites like NJC, VJC.
I came from an English-speaking family though went to SAP school. My mistake was not doing enough research about HCJC’s culture. I should have skipped that and put my 3rd choice NJC as 2nd choice instead.
HCJC has good teachers definitely.
As for my son’s 6 choices, we are trying to find out which schools are the best fit for him.[/quote] -

since the child already in an English speaking environment outside school, can consider expose the child to a “more Chinese school environment”, so that child Chinese standard is more likely to continue to improve.
What is your view on this pls? -

While RJC and HCI undoubtably continue to attract some of the brightest kids, the question of NYJC overtaking some of the old favourites is kinda 'iffy'.

One can point to the COP and argue that it is getting good quality in and is among the most popular school among O Level programme cohort, the anecdotal evidence in terms of the matriculated students in the most 'desired' courses, i.e. medicine, law, etc as well as the students picking up the scholarships awarded are still from the 'old favourites'.

My parents sent my brother and I to SAP primary & secondary schools, ostensibly for this reason. While we did dutifully churn out good Chinese grades, I can’t say we ended up having a very deep love for Chinese culture. I appreciate my roots yes, but when it came to my own offspring’s P1 enrolment, I deliberately steered away from choosing a SAP school for him, knowing that he wont suit the academic rigor + extra strict school rules.

My Nonya mother paid for years of Chinese tuition from K2 to S4 for both of us…good thing her investment in me is paying off 2-fold since now I am able to give my son extra coaching in Chinese myself. -

MOE's official statement is about half. Some schools are known/rumored to have a much higher chance of being converted, although no one knows an exact figure for sure.
Hiii, was wondering what’s the percentage of a WL to be accepted by school eventually ? Is the chance high ? Anyone knows?
For example, for NUSH SIE to open, all of the WLs must be converted and there still needs to be vacancy.

Thank you!
So for WL, we are still able to put out preference ?
For example: school A - WL , school B - confirmed
We put our preferences as School A first followed by School B, if we don’t get into school A , do we still have chance for school B? -

Yes. School B (CO) will be confirmed if WL for school A is not converted.
Thank you!
