Do you know where we can find a consolidated list of common terms used in Chinese oral?

For oral if the student really cannot think of the correct Chinese word to use, and add in an English word, would it be an immediate failure? Any tip what to do in such a situation?

The best way is for the student to consolidate his/her own list based on topics (accumulate from passages/articles that are read). This way, can cover a wider range and more targeted (i.e. the list are the words/phrases he/she didn't know initially).

Another alternative will be via reference books like this one:

Student can study the list (词汇和短句) at the end of each discussed topic and also pick up phrases from the notes):

Nope, it won't be that harsh.

If it is just one or two English words, then will only affect language and expression component of the grades.

The key is to 扬长避短 （play to one’s strengths & one's shortcomings），if can't avoid mentioning it, then try to replace that word/phrase with an easier/simpler one, even if it may not be as accurate（e.g. self checkout kiosk 自助付款机 --> 自己用机器付钱）,
