Lol. I'm under no illusions that I'm impervious to covid. Just that I seldom go out in the last 3 years, so I've no colds for that length of time. Now they allow teachers and students to go back and not only that... they also allow maskless interactions in the school! It's crazy. That mask is not coming off me. :nunchuk:

I have not caught it. Pre-covid I often fall sick. I go to public places often but I wear masks, diligently sanitize my hands and take vitamin D3 and K2 everyday. I don’t know whether it makes a difference or not. DS and DH also haven’t caught it.

Probably yr sense towards heightened leading to more care towards wearing masks whereas in the past u don’t wear them, sanitizing more whereas in the past you don’t do as habit & yr Vit intake hv contributed to yr current safer health status?

I’m wondering if the healthcare advisors letting loose to achieve that illusive ‘herd immunity’ now that we’ve achieved 70% of population caught covid ?

I don't think so because we can re-infect Covid 19 and new variants are coming out. The reason I think the healthcare advisors letting loose is because more and more tourists and foreign talents are coming back to Singapore and those from western countries don't want to wear masks anymore.

How can it be that we compromise for the sake of westerners’ whims & fancies? Ridiculous! It’s our kids, our elderlies & our vulnerable’s health at stake if they’re impt part of our community.

Of course the change of rules are no for foreigners' sakes! Look at how tight the restrictions were at the height of the pandemic. But there are a lot of downsides for our own population, espcially children and young people, from continued restrictions and mask-wearing. Yes, there are risks, but everything carries risks, and policies have to strike a balance. In the past, the balance tilted towards restrictions, and now the other way. The vulnerable are also vulnerable to flu, TB, traffic accidents, etc.

Caught it once does not mean you will not get it again in the future. It is really pointless to get infected thinking we’ll be immune to it. It is not a matter of get it over and done with.

The reinfection rate is 5.5%. Getting it once is not 100% guanrantee of never getting it again, but it does seem to reduce the risk.

What gets me is worrying that one of us will get it when it's most inconvenient, and so having to be more careful in the days leading up to certain events. With 3 never-been-infected in the family, and everyone back at work and with family/social activities and travel coming up, it's getting on our nerves!

Earlier, govt believed we could get herd immunity but realized this is not true even with 100% COVID infection rate :

Friend’s brother was reinfected 4 weeks after he recovered from COVID in February this year. The brother believed what govt said that he would not catch covid 90 days after recovering so his mask was always worn below his nose.

I m just wondering for those haven't caught it as of now.. do you belong to those who seldom fall sick/seldom catch flu during non covid time?

How seldom is seldom? My girls and I probably averaged 2-4 colds/flu per year each pre-Covid. Not usually serious, maybe just 1-2 days of MC a year.

We are also only doing the minimum of mask-wearing (obeying the regulations but not exceeding the requirements), and not being overly zealous about sanitisation etc. My girls are in the office at least 3 days a week, often more, and one of them has many meetings with outsiders. I go to office twice a week.

I'm getting my 2nd booster in Sep in preparation for a vacation in Nov, but I wouldn't mind also getting Covid soon, just to have that added protection and to stop having to look over my shoulder. Now is a good time as it's a lull period with my work now! The last thing I want is to get it when I'm going to be very busy just before I travel, or while overseas, or when I get back and will be busy catching up.
