This is my understanding as well (only one list, just pass down the order).
What we do not know is if HCI will place any domain to have priority (higher ranking) in wait list or not, or evenly spread out across domain. I believe there is only one wait list to be submitted to MOE system by 12 September. The school no longer able to decide who will be allocated the slots if the COs give up the slots. The chances will pass down according to the submitted wait list in order, thru the system.
...
As for the waitlist composition, I guess none of us know for sure. Still, if I had to guess I would think they (or schools in general, not just HCI) are ranking candidates vs. an entire domain (i.e. all in Domain A ranked ahead of all in Domain B). Some of this may be a function of a domain really wanted X candidates but could only get X-1 (or X-2) on the CO list so the remaining students not given a CO may be higher up the list. Others will fill in as they just go around the table with likely wants/needs based on assumed CO acceptance.
In the end, we will never know if our child is first or last on the WL. The former has almost a near certainty of getting converted while the latter may be at best 50:50 (even if the school typically tries to have a very high WL conversion percentage).
Anyways, the above are just guesses from the outside; could be right or wrong. Best of luck to those holding WL(s)! -

Why would you want PYQs from that far back? The syllabus may have changed since (just a guess).

Chinese: vocab list has changed from 2018 (?) but still can practise compre etc.
Math & Science: dont get me started on how darn easy the qns circa 2015 were compared to now!! -

Wouldn't it be easier to get the sample questions and countless workbooks with the current syllabus?

I think it's better to get Qs from the current syllabus. Per @zac's mum, the questions then are different from what they are today. So, best to just use the current questions and not to give the student a different impression, better or worse.
maybe for science?
