Just checked, the Magnolia milk was 946ml !!!
I feel cheated :stupid: -
Prices are going up everywhere, not just in Singapore. I realised that each time I head out, it’s easily a couple of hundred dollars gone. I think the majority of us here can manage the price increases on daily necessities, maybe need to cut back on a bit of luxury or indulgence but on the whole it is not that dire. No point getting upset over rising prices, not gonna change anything, can only adjust our personal basket of goods.
-
Case 1: I know the price of item X has increased
Case 2: I didnt know the amt of X has reduced but am paying a similar price or just slightly more.
I am more upset with case 2. -
Made me check the prices of the stuff that I usually get.
Surprisingly, no change in prices since as far back as 2019. Meiji fresh milk, Nature’s quinoa, Nissin granola. These are stuff that I get on a weekly basis. Eggs prices have gone up a fair bit though. -
I think Meiji fm don donki dtill at 5.95 if I m not wrong. But those at ntuc…mostly 6+ for 2packs.
-
2L still $5.95 from fairprice.

Eggs were even higher about a month or 2 ago! They've come down again a bit since.

This is strinkflatuon for us! It’s been happening since early in the year.

Egg prices went up past $7 just 4 months back but action was taken to try reduce the level to a fairer point, with Sheng Siong kick-starting the move, before NTUC reduced to same level shortly after. The suppliers did come together to help elevate the prices pressures on consumers. But egg prices u fortunately will not revert to old times. I still rmbr griping when a tray of 30 eggs went past $3 but now it’s alr past $6.
What can families eat if eggs, chicken and fruit prices all goes up but don’t look like falling back.
Many producers hv strunk or reduce the weight/volume. If u look at some products, the look is similar but might be re-designed as smaller squares or bottles comes with a dimpled depression that reduces the total volume.
I guess so long as they’ve complied with advertising requirements, we hv no recourse. It’s good that we keep notice of the published weight/volume & make informed choices. All manufacturers are faced with increased costs of labour & logistics.
It’ll take a while for prices stop getting inflated. Just hope the long-feared stagflation don’t rear its ugly face. It’s really hard when price pressures keeps going up & families need higher income (resulting in changing of jobs for higher pay) but some ppl do fear not able to hold on or stay long in a new job. Bosses also face pressures to pay labour they loose to competitors.
My hope is for covid to be thumbed down & no new unexpected health or pandemic and no more war. It doesn’t look good for the new sufferings for many families. Hopefully, out govt don’t run out of reserves & hv sufficient to help families who need help to tie over. We need our economy to stay strong & competitive with more rewarding jobs for S’poreans for every foreigners ‘invited’ into our space. -
So sad.

My coolie refuses to carry heavy stuff. So now I order online delivery for heavy stuff like rice, bleach, detergent.
I prefer to go ntuc in Hillion Mall in the early morning to beat the crowd.
The seafood section which sells prawns, fish is ready around 8am.
I’ve switched to Pasar singapore eggs…$3 compared to Seng Choon $3.40. Hubby likes pasar oranges but can’t seem to find it.
Chateraise double fantasy puffs are smaller although price is still the same. Occasional treat.
