As the vocab list provided at the end of the CL textbook comes in the form of 生字表 rather than 词语表,I collated my own 词语表 from Pri 4 to 6 textbook. Please feel free to share the download link with others whom you think may find them useful. 😄

The way I use it is, as I revise the 词语 with my students, I highlight common 词语搭配, common misconception/misunderstanding (inc. other tricky 词语/字 which may appear similar or have similar meaning but different usage etc.). Such information can be jot down in the 3rd column, together with the 词语's English meaning.

For self revision, students can cover the 2nd column (showing 汉语拼音), test themselves on the pronunciation and write down the English meaning of each phrase based on their understanding. Through this process, they will be able to identify the 词语s which they do not fully comprehend (be it in terms of pronunciation or meaning) and subsequently focus and work on these \"weaknesses\".

Oral is coming soon??? any tips for parents?
Just to share…DS oral prelim topic was totally unexpected. Not one of the typical ones. Not exactly about HBL either (which came out before). Video showed elder brother using computer to draw some art stuff. 弟弟 came to take a look & 哥哥 taught him how to draw using the computer.

          Qn: 除了用电脑来教学生,你觉得老师可以用什么方法来教课呢?
DS told me his answer was 白板. Examiner prompted again, 除了白板呢?Second answer: 笔和纸.

At first DS and I thought gone case, sure fail. But today the marks came back: 41/50, totally surprised us.

When I questioned DS further, whether he really gave one-word answer & completely stopped talking after that, he said, no lah, I continued: “因为老师可以用马克笔在白板上画,来解释给学生听。课室里的白板很大,学生们都容易看得见。” and similarly some elaboration/explanation after the 笔和纸 answer.

So we learnt sthg from this experience: for Oral exam, doesnt matter if your answer isnt the smartest answer, as long as u dont freeze up and stop talking, just keep talking even in simple terms to justify/elaborate your answer is ok. Examiners probably looking for fluency, not bestest model answer.

Hope others will have a better experience for PSLE. Remember it’s not the end even if dont feel good about the performance!

            Well done, Zac! 🙂

Yeah - for content, relevance, clarity, elaboration are key. Similar to picture compo.

Whether the topic is deemed as “easy/common” or “unexpected/difficult” will also be factored in to ensure as much fairness as possible for students taking different oral topics.

It's not listed under 识读字 or 识写字 but it did appear in 6B textbook page 19.

Thank u Chenlaoshi! I checked the 手册 and it is not listed under the relevant Chapter 8. I dont recall it being a commonly tested word in assessment books and school papers either.

I guess no harm learning it now. May I know what it means & the various usages? Sorry, I have never encountered this word in my own primary or secondary HCL syllabus, or in daily life, so I am clueless how to use it or teach Zac. 😓

It is a very common word use specifically during interviews in Channel 8 news programme. It means something like to share experience...the reporter always ask the guests (if the guest is good at cooking food) any 心得 to share with the audiences on how to make delicious cakes, etc.

No worries, zac's mum. Yeah, non-识读字/识写字 are unlikely to be tested separately - if they do appear in exam, they will be part of a passage/sentence.

心得 refers to the takeaway you get from undergoing the process of an activity. In the textbook example (from the print screen above, the 1st sentence means \"you are welcome to join the reading club and share your reading takeaways/ things you learnt form your readings\".

Thus, in a sentence where 心得 is used, you should see the mention of

妈妈/大家 who was the one who gained the 心得 +
陈阿姨 (optional) who the 心得 was shared with.
