Are there any affiliation advantage?
Does anyone know, other than Medicine and Law, and computing related courses (my guess?) what are the popular courses in NUS that are hard to get in nowadays? I am trying to assess how \"valuable\" is the affiliation of NUS High to NUS for entry to university. -
No there isnt any concept of affiliation.
However, the NUS admissions criteria clearly has a different application scheme for NUS High DIploma students. And they are considered once they obtain their Diplomas (in Nov each year) much earlier than A level students, who get their results much later. (2) Further, a fair number of NUSH students would already have done University modules as part of their NUSHigh curriculum and would have already earned credits/waivers into NUS. (3) NUS High is part of NUS, and one of the advantages is that the students get to have access to all libraries within NUS. -
As a alumni, I would say you are able to get into most courses in NUS with the exception of medicine/dentistry/law with a low cap of 4.0 (more than 50% of the cohort will be above 4.5). This applies to cs too, which is highly competitive. As mentioned above, we do have the advantage of using most of their facilities and completing some university modules if you are selected. University application results are released the same time as A levels so I dont think there is a separate selection, just the option to apply earlier.

Dear all,
My Son, who is in the Sec2 Express stream, will be taking the Y3 admission test to NUS high. Any help on what to prepare? He has a passion in Maths, but not to the level of typical olympiad students. Are any useful websites or documents or advice to share? Thanks in advance!! -

If your child is so fortunate to be invited to participate in Einstein Club, that is a sign that he or she has the potential and interest that the school is looking for. The Einstein Club activities give the child and early taste of what the curriculum in the school is like.
