      Hi Kenneth

Thanks for your effort in replying.

Truth be told I merely scanned through because I’ve moved on and I don’t really care much about your business approach at this moment.

However, I’m not disputing that I wasn’t informed about the cci. What I’m saying is that I wish the studio had more heart in dealing with my case specifically. A background, my daughter has heavy commitments and goes for competitions. So you can imagine her week is packed with all her trainings and tuition for other subjects- it may surprise you that she has to study other subjects and not just science.

      1) While I was upset with the forced cci lesson I was willing to let her attend- although begrudgingly. That was why she had already attended 2 out of the 4 days of cci. (For your information, she had skipped one other tuition class just to attend one of the forced cci class)

      2) because she’s heavily involved in competitions and trainings. She happened to only have that one week in June to attend that cci before school reopens. she simply had no other week to make up and woe to us, she also fell sick that week.

As a mother I could not bear to let her plough through the cci while she’s sick. Since I felt the cci was repetitive, I also deemed that it was unhelpful for my kid (as I’ve told your staff, the class was slowing her done) and she really didn’t have any other week to attend (background: in order for her to do a make up for any class she literally had to skip one other class and in the end I’ve to arrange another make up for that latter class and the cycle goes on- that’s how packed her schedule is) I saw no need to continue hence I had demanded to to refund for the remaining 2 days, refusing to be forced to attend something that I deem unnecessary for my child.

The response was simply - can but my daughter could no longer attend pique lab.-

      Why so? Why so haughty?

Do you mean By not attending that mere 2 lessons of cci classes my kid won’t be able to catch up? I don’t think so since cci is a repeat of the past lessons and has no hold on new topics.

Do you mean to say that cci guarantees all students to get A1 for PSLE and you’re afraid that since she she skipped cci she may pull down your 100% AL1 results reputation (if you even dare to claim so) If this is the case, I’ll gladly accept it as an reasonable explanation.

My last straw came when I was told the regular tuition class was still ongoing which meant she had to sit there for 5 hours, sick while attending your lessons. It would have been too heartless for me to allow her to go on just to make my money’s worth.

So I felt pushed to the corner. Both by my daughter’s health, heavy schedule and pique lab.

It would have be nice if pique lab had handled my case with some empathy and exception instead of brushing me off with the above reply.

I’ve moved on. And I’m happy with tll. But maybe something for you to ponder if it’s really worth to make your customers so upset with your rigidity (in my case for a mere $200?) and leaving the customers with no/ little options.

Lastly, your cci program that repeats basic stuff may have benefited a group of students (who needs the refresher course) but here’s a nugget for you- not all. Hence it is wrong of you to make it compulsory for all the students to attend- you’re making an assumption that it benefits all students; not giving any consideration to the varied ability levels. You are literally forcing the lessons down the throat of the kids and making the parents spend more money. Here’s a feedback- perhaps you could have offered it to students who will benefit it rather enforcing all to attend. Or make it optional. Of course- unless you can guarantee that cci will help all students get their AL 1. Then by all means make it compulsory- in fact you won’t need to make it compulsory, parents will flock to you.

Also having attended pique lab’s classes for a few good months, I still standby my take on pique lab’s teaching methodology- too repetitive on commonly seen questions and it inherently makes the students memorise the answers rather than using their thinking skills. As I mentioned before, those weak students will benefit greatly from this method (just so you know I’m not that kind of unreasonable ‘karen’ out there - despite my grudge, I’ve actually recently recommended pique lab to a friend who’s kid is weak in her foundation, you’re welcome) but my personal goal is for my kid to apply more thinking skills rather than going by route memory.

Honestly, I would have sucked it up and make my kid go through the cci uneventfully if she hadn’t fallen sick- despite my reservations about your cci program and teaching methodology. However, please be absolutely clear that it is your lack of empathy and dictatorship style management (ie forcing everyone to ‘buy your product’ even though not everyone needs it or wants to buy and If one doesn’t buy your ‘so effective cci product’ one gets kicked out of pique lab) that ultimately drove me away and drove me here to rant- it wasn’t mainly due to your program. If my case was handled with more heart and thought , I would have tried to quietly find positive reasons about your cci and program and you wouldn’t be needing to fight fire here now. 🙂

I’ll say no more from here.

      Have a good day.

Can anyone recommend a good results-oriented tuition center for science near Katong or Paya Lebar area?

I want to sign up Science Solutions, but they have limited slots which conflicts with my other tuition timings. Anyone can recommend a good science tutor at TLL Parkway? Anyone has reviews of Ms. Ang or Kristal in TLL Parkway please?

          Thanks!

Having checked with parent chatgroups, you might like to consider https://www.sciencestudios.com.sg/ at Eastgate @ Katong. Founder is Mr Chong, ex GEP HOD for science at Henry park primary.

Unfortunately mr Chong doesn’t teach the classes. I would sign up if he did but nope. The Teachers seem q young n new and I’m slightly cautious about young n inexperienced Teachers.

Ya, Mr Chong used to teach, but now he focus on designing the materials and curriculum.

                      Hi,

May I know whether The Pique Lab conducts experiments (for p6 lessons) or are you more worksheets based? Are their lessons interesting or more exam-oriented?

How about Germinate? Any reviews for the teacher Mr Or? I am considering between these 2 centers.

                      Thank you in advance.
