This is very real and happens.

Check when served and highlight to service staff. Resolve it first before eating.
        How to check?! :yikes:

\"Wait har... I go weigh it first...\" and bring out my portable scaling machine :rotflmao:

Yes, tell the waiter that you have been short changed. There should be 4 pincers, instead of only 3.
Depending on where and relationship, usually complimentary dessert. If already offering this, then maybe 2 desserts or voucher for next visit.

I think $5 per pax for their choice of (昆仑) 雪菊茶 is ok. Teapot should be refillable, right?

Pickles $5 per dish is also ok, because those might be homemade/fermented peanuts/radish/achar?
Dim sum 3 pc per basket price is also acceptable cos there’s prawn and crab inside the har gow, siew mai.

But that HK Kailan is too expensive at $22+ (small).

Another F&B boss Dragon Phoenix was quoted as saying "HK kai lan is more expensive than local kai lan as the preparation process is more complex. Thus, only high-end restaurants serve HK kai lan."

But you only need to peel the ‘skin’ off the thicker stems and soak the leaves longer to get rid of the pesticide. It’s just oyster+garlic stirfried style, right? What’s so labour-intensive?

From the photo, I can see they’d peeled the ‘skin’ but didn’t slant-cut the stems. Not worth $91, unless they do the 虾酱嘟嘟芥兰煲 style which is more complex cos it comprises 2 steps.

The most outrageous we have had was $120 for 6 bbq prawns at Newton food center. That’s the first and last time we order food (when price is not listed) without asking for price.[/quote]
After what had happened to some tourists in 2009, I didn't dare to order Tiger Prawns or Crabs at Newton anymore!
                https://medium.com/jeremygoh/ref-tiger-prawns-for-s-239-6350c5be5fb7#:~:text=SIX%20Americans%20who%20sat%20down,%24239%20for%20eight%20tiger%20prawns.

I usually order chicken wings, oyster omelette, stingray, clams and sambal kangkong. BTW, Newton's closed from today for 3 months for renovation.

If you have $98++, I highly recommend J65 at Jen Hotel Tanglin (by Shangri-La). Wow, their SEAFOOD MANIA buffet is the best in Singapore! I took my dc there for birthday. Each guy ate at least 4-6 huge Boston lobsters and 6-10 huge oysters that night. It's all free flow, but we controlled ourselves of course by not overeating..

Many huge crab pincers in various sauces (butter garlic, chili, black pepper, salted egg yolk, etc). Plates after plates of sashimi. Heaps of fresh tiger prawns (boiled/soy-fried), Belgian mussels, clams, etc. Eat till you drop!

Thank you for the recommendation. I have been there for buffet a few years ago. Hope to go there again soon.

Yes, yes they probably thought we were tourist as we have a few Ang Mo with us. It was years back, so I’m sure things have changed after that.

Wow! We order the same stuff! chicken wings, oyster omelette, stingray, clams and sambal kangkong are our usuals too. I .. just that we were craving for prawns that day. Maybe should have order cereal prawn instead of bbq.. they don’t look like tiger prawns at all.

Thanks for sharing about the buffet! My kids don’t really eat seafood.. they head straight to desserts and Beef section! I like those with kids activities… then adults can eat in peace.
