Just got back from my bivalent booster. So far, so good. Unfortunately, no x-ray vision, superhuman strength or the ability to outrun a speeding bullet train but it may be too soon to tell 🙂

I realized that there are a lot of people who are keen to take the bivalent vaccine - all ages, shapes and sizes. I thought there may have been more apprehension but I was wrong. Clearly, it's like the newest iPhone of vaccines. Anyway, the queue was quite long and even though I had an appointment and arrived early, I didn't get my jab until about 40 mins after my time slot. No complaints though as I didn't mind the wait and the frontliners were (as always) doing a great job managing the crowds, explaining the vaccine and ensuring that people felt comfortable.

So, it's time to grab lunch and rest up. Good luck to the others who are also taking this booster!

Think the freedom of moving about freely outweighs the worries of the new vaccine for most people. I see people are all very happy moving about now, largely without masks on...but still gotta be careful because a lot is still unknown about this virus...for example....

Repeat COVID-19 is riskier than first infection, study finds

\"Reinfection with COVID-19 increases the risk of both acute outcomes and long COVID,\" said Dr Ziyad Al-Aly of Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis. \"This was evident in unvaccinated, vaccinated and boosted people.\"

The findings were drawn from US Department of Veterans Affairs data collected from Mar 1, 2020 through Apr 6, 2022 on 443,588 patients with one SARS-CoV-2 infection, 40,947 with two or more infections, and 5.3 million noninfected individuals. Most of the study subjects were male.

Reinfected patients had a more than doubled risk of death and a more than tripled risk of hospitalisation compared with those who were infected with COVID-19 just once. They also had elevated risks for problems with lungs, heart, blood, kidneys, diabetes, mental health, bones and muscles, and neurological disorders, according to a report published in Nature Medicine.

\"Even if one had prior infection and was vaccinated - meaning they had double immunity from prior infection plus vaccines - they are still susceptible to adverse outcomes upon reinfection,\" Al-Aly, the study leader, said.

True. I think the goal is to develop herd immunity and build up an overall level of resistance which minimizes critical or long-term harm. They want to turn it into the flu.

I know folks who've gotten COVID twice and thrice already. If it really becomes an endemic, then hopefully we'll lose count of the number of times a person has caught it and just wish them a speedy recovery when they do - expecting full well that they will recover 🙂

Puzzles me too despite the unknown risks associated with the new variant, people still choose to go out and without masking up some more. The desire for 'freedom' is indeed powerful.

Is it not endemic already? I think I'm one of the few left overs, assuming that I haven't already gotten it.
Non-covid people... we are a dying breed... 😂

Again, same boat with you. Still not COVID'ed yet.

I read somewhere that we're close to seeing this become an endemic which, by implication, would mean that we're not quite there yet.

Whatever it is pandemic or endemic - try your best not to catch this Covid 19 Virus. It is not an experience that we could proud of.

Yes, I've been told the same. But I think it's more a question of when, not if, these days.

Yes thinking is same too…it is only matter of when. I m mask off most of time …situational at first then slowly feel more like a norm.
