I don't think that's a fair comment to make. I wasn't referring to secondary school admission but rather to his own performance. Irrespective of which school he goes to, he takes pride in his own performance. If you can't see that, then best not to comment IMHO.
      My point is -

      Why are u so anxious,
when your son already has accepted the DSA offer, already have a school to go to ?

      Do u know,
who are the parents and P6 kids who are anxious ?

Is those that NEVER have any DSA offer, at all.

      Why?

      Because

They can only rely on their AL score, to enter Secondary schools.

So, your situation is very different, from these people,
      WITHOUT
      any DSA offer.

      In other words,
you (parent) DON'T need to be anxious at all.
Why are u creating un necessary anxiety, upon yourself ?

For the other group, those without DSA offer, it is only natural that they are anxious, and we all.can understand.

      After all, be honest.
What is the purpose behind, to release all these AL score for?
      Answer -

Is for Sec 1 posting exercise.
To post students accordingly, to different Secondary schools !

      But your kid,
already been assigned a DSA school , no need to go through all these anymore

I can relate to what Mr.Clumsy shared. My child also accepted the DSA offer, so yes, there is less at stake. Nonetheless, to my kid, the results still matter a great deal cos that’s the kid’s effort, not just this year, but cumulatively over the 6 years of primary school. So to the extent that my kid is anxious, I’m anxious too.

We asked our friend to collect and let us know…our friend will go to school based on convenient timing. I m not ‘that ganjiong’…I just wished to go back to our school and if kid is lucky enough then can go to dream school. … more or less I know we are going back coz of kid’s way of preparation for psle. The kid was sad for at least one week but I thought/hope that’s where kid should learn their lesson…kid being kid, not all will learn on their own…so I guess still need guidance from us, adults. If we have no affl. sec sch…I m confident I won’t be as cool.

Sometimes we parents can be cool and keep telling kids it is ok la…but kids could feel sad for quite some time. I only knew kid been crying in sleep for abt 1 or 2 weeks when kid talked abt it after some time later.

Maybe we try to take care of their feelings…when got the results…some got what their desired and it will be a happy occasion but for those not…hmm maybe we don’t add on to their emotional burden coz some will need to deal with it on their own, quietly …and I hope all will be happy today.

I told my DS that irrespective of what he scores, he should not be embarrassed or emboldened by it. The score neither defines him nor determines his future. It's just a number.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, I believe that boys tend to mature later and their switches turn on when they're a bit older. As a consequence, they aren't all as conscientious, focused or disciplined as the girls in their cohort (just my opinion). Given this, I've reiterated that the PSLE is just a step in a long journey and he has many years ahead to reach for the stars. Likewise, doing well in the PSLE does not guarantee success in the long term either.

So, when he's asked about his scores tomorrow, I've reminded him that it's his choice if he wants to share the score. Regardless of what that score is, life continues. We have already planned a family holiday in Dec and we're all looking forward to it. I've asked him to focus on that instead and, as far as possible, to treat tomorrow like any other day in school.
That is a balanced view: not taking things for granted and not overly preoccupied with scores.

Hi, may I check for those with higher chinese going to SAP school, does e.g. 6P come before 6 (no higher chinese) or does only 6D and 6M have advantage? Thank you!

Yes, HCL Pass will rank ahead of no HCL for SAP school posting (for the same total AL score in the four main subjects).

                Good luck!

Yes there will be priority for pass in HCL as well
And the HCL advantage will apply before other tie breakers like citizenship and order of choice comes in

                  All the best!
