Assuming this year’s COP remains the same as last year’s, and your top 3 choices are SCGS IP, SCGS O and MGS O, I think the chances of your daughter getting in the above 3 are slim. For your 4th choice, pick one with COP 9 or 10.

Based on last year’s experience, most who are on COP borderline got balloted out due to significantly more applicants than vacancies. Really depends on one’s luck. I have a feeling MGS IB will move up by 1pt and this may indirectly cause MGS O level to be pushed up by 1pt too.

Maybe you can update us about your DD’s sec 1 posting result. We will cheer for you
Thanks. As we cannot go to SAP schools, our choices at AL8 is limited.
I could choose Cedar O-, but the school is far-far away from home and doesn't make sense.
Last 2 choices are Swiss cottage (stone throw distance from home) and Bukit Panjang.
Let us hope for the best.

Any statistics about balloting (among SC?)
Also, most schools have a process for appealing. How it works out (if we get balloted out and still trying through appeal)?

Yeah, my DS' letter doesn't have HMT, not that he'd want to pursue it 😛 There are other categories he can choose from but it's a bit disappointing that he cannot pick 2 languages from the same category.
For my boy, where he is going, I think no choice need to take HMT. But what’s the criteria to get the option for HMT?
Oh I didn’t noticed that as well. Do u know if they can drop out anytime, 3rd language.

Does anyone know what is the cop for ESIS this year?

Hi and congrats! Choices are safe; #5 and #6 will definitely catch him.

I believe last year SJI IB balloted at first choice. Up to you whether to leave it in the #2 spot or remove and move everything else up a spot. I am not sure whether TJC ballot at first choice or something later. Also should have a decent shot at VS IP, in which case nothing else will matter. Good luck!
How to find out if the school balloted at first choice? Is the stats available somewhere? That will help alot of kids and parents to make that choice decision.

The tiered discount is outdated & was changed to $30 regardless of score. There was a report on the controversial issue in the news:

Aiyoh! I thought it was still valid. I guess haidilao wanted to avoid a pr disaster.

Anyway must spend $150 first then get $30 off. I’d rather go eat elsewhere (and we did).

All along (since more than 10 years ago), I believe that the grade for Chinese is quite curved upwards (based on the As my son and nephew got despite their half past six levels).

When I looked at my grand niece AL3 for Chinese, I sort of confirmed my speculation even more (she is a ‘half mute’ during oral conversation throughout her 6 years during school’s practices and usually scored around 50% with teachers’ frequent comment as ‘inaudible’, and I gave up training her on oral as ‘not value for time’), her compo is so-so maybe 65% type, listening is ok around 90%, written is OK around 90%). Her school’s averaged score usually was around 70s. She cannot hold a Chinese conversation or read another Chinese word out from her textbook vocab range (I trained her only for exam purposes due to her ‘limited capacity’).

So this AL3 seemed like a ‘curved score’. Did anyone feel similar (as in your child’s Chinese score is ‘better than expected)’?

                        Asking out of curiosity.

*She exceeded expectation of Eng and Chinese at AL3 and Science and Math at AL5 when I was forecasting AL5 for Languages (her Eng score in school usually around high 50s / low 60s incl prelim) and Science and an AL6 for Math (failed her Math or barely passed throughout her P6 school exams). It has been a tough 6 years of struggles for her and we are all glad that this segment ends on a higher note.
