Since Hua Yi is your child's dream school, you should put it as first choice. Who knows, the COP may change from 16 to 17 this year.
Child achieved AL17 and living in the west.
Dream school was Hua Yi COP16.
Choices now as follows BUT in no order yet
Boon Lay Secondary School COP 22
Bukit View Secondary School COP 19
Hillgrove Secondary School COP 19
Jurong West Secondary School COP 18
Jurongville Secondary School COP 20
West Spring Secondary School COP 17
Westwood Secondary School COP 22
Yuan Ching Secondary COP 19
Highly likely 1st choice is West Spring then 2nd choice is Jurongville.
Location and cca is equally important for child.
Question 1 - should we even consider including hua yi? Based on some suggestions to consider for variance +- 1-2points.
Question 2 - any comments on the lists of school? How would you suggest the order?
Many thanks in advance!!
Do play safe for 5th and 6th choice (e.g. COP of 20 to 22).
All the best. -

Always better scores go in first. Choice only comes in for tie-breaker, when 2 or more citizen kids have the EXACT same scores vying for the last remaining spots, then choice will be looked at. If still more applicants than vacancies, then ballot.
Then which one the school with select AL 10 2nd choice or AL 12 as first choice ?[/quote] -

Hi, I wish to confirm my understanding how the COP works. Let's say the ACTUAL 2022 COP for my 1st to 5th choices turns out to be 10 for each of them. And the ACTUAL 2022 COP for my 6th choice is 15.
If my PSLE score is 12, does this mean that I will definitely get posted to the 6th choice? Meaning if my score is better than the ACTUAL 2022 COP of the school I choose, how I rank it has no relevance?bbpinksg\" post_id=\"2090030\" time=\"1669307015\" user_id=\"198702:
Should be guaranteed as his question is based on assumption of ACTUAL 2022 COP (i.e., for 2023 Sec 1 intake). No guarantee 🫣
Pls go to MOE S-1 posting page -

“At the 2021 S1 Posting Exercise, the overall proportion of students who underwent computerised balloting was around 1 in 10, and the proportion of students who were posted to one of their six school choices remains at above 90%. These figures are consistent with past years.”
Could you explain what happened to the remaining 10% students whom didn’t get their 6 choices at all and get balloted to any vacant schools anywhere in the island….
(for ex, AL7 got Whitley ;no offense to the school) what went wrong? How to avoid this?
10% is quite big margin, big enough to make a foreign mom like myself not be able to sleep,
since preparing for AEIS then entered SG (unpopular) primary school without affiliation
until now
it sounds like a nightmare :nailbite: :frustrated:

That's the dilemma we are in now.. it's either my child gets the dream school or one choice wasted.

E.g., Student with PSLE Score AL12. It is guaranteed as long as any of the student's 6 choices is AL13 or higher (actual COP for 2023 Sec 1 Intake).

To avoid not getting any of the 6 choices, play safe for the 5th and 6th choice.

If it's your child's dream school, it is not wasted. There is a chance that the COP will go higher or lower any year (especially +1 or -1).That's the dilemma we are in now.. it's either my child gets the dream school or one choice wasted.
Tough decision.
Imagine if the COP of Hua Yi changes from 16 to 17 this year and you did not put the school as your first choice  -

Agree with coast, that it is not wasted as it is your child’s dream school.
