Which school does your child like more, between SJI (O) and NH? Put that in the first choice, you don’t want to regret. Even if fail ballot at COP, still can appeal.
We are SC, that's the worry we have, and if 2nd choice (Nanhua high) moves up to AL10, then we will have to face balloting and the ones who put as first choice will get in first. -

Maybe the kid scored 13 or lower and is determined to get into the first two choice. Number 3 to 6 are just space fillers because the system doesn’t allow you to choose a NULL option. In such cases, it’s good to choose RI, HCI, ACSI and VS as the 3rd to 6th choices so as to confuse everyone further.
Can I understand the logic of why some parents put a lower COP school at choice 2 onwards?
For example.
1. Clementi Town (14)
2. Bukit Batok Sec (15)
3. CHIJ St Theresa 's (13)
4. Fuhua Sec (13)
5. Jurong Sec (15)
6. Gan Eng Seng (15)
Choice 3 and 4 are lower than choice 1 and 2.
Trying to understand the logic or strategy behind this. I thought it shd be lower to higher but I’ve seen quite a number of choices which are up down up down. So wanted to understand. -

My DD case
Foreign AL8 no HCL, eligibility HTML &MSP as 3rd lang
She dreamt to go to any IP school anywhere but the hope now dashed, she doesn’t want to waste her 1st choice to try something that is very risky (after reading this forum)
So she gives up IP and it’s kinda sad
I would have still supported her to use her “ticket” wisely or to try that risky move tho if she wants to
Afterall is the achievement & hard work is hers
and she deserves it
Most likely she will go with this option:
1. CHIJ SNGS O 4M-9M (nearest from home)
2. SCGS O 7-8
3. Cedar O 5-9
4. CHIJ TPY 7-10
5. St Marg 8-11
6. Crescent girl 5-11 (farthest frm home)
SNGS is a good school. Every year, there will be AL4 to AL8 students who choose O-level track instead of IP. SNGS is one of the schools attracting these students.
I hope she gets her first choice and excels in O-levels in 4 years time. SNGS has a good track record for O-levels performance.
All the best.
Note: If she does very well in Sec 1/2, there is a chance to be considered for transfer to IP in Sec 3. -
Hi Gurus, would like to seek advice…
For SC AL7 without HCL;
can the child still get into secondary schools offering IP track?
if yes to above, will it be difficult for them to cope with HCL? -

I think more and more people are getting it, it is always by merit first! The score is the most important piece of information here.
Yes this is true. It’s either they decided to take a huge risk or they do not understand how the posting works. I know many are still confused by the Choice tie breaker. Some think that choice comes before scores. So the new choice option is kind of making a lot confused.
Posting to secondary school will still be based on your child’s PSLE Score.
Tie-breakers are used only if there are two or more students with the same PSLE Score vying for the last available place(s) in a school. -

Q1. Yes, the child can get into secondary schools offering IP track.

Based on last year’s COP, AL7 can get into IP in these schools.
Dunman High School IP SAP (co-ed) – 8(D)
Catholic High School IP SAP (boys) – 8(M)
Cedar Girls’ Secondary School IP (girls) – 8
Victoria School IP (boys) – 8
Singapore Chinese Girls’ School IP (girls) – 8
St. Joseph’s Institution IB (boys) – 8
Temasek Junior College IP (co-ed) – 8
River Valley High School IP SAP (co-ed) – 9(M)
Q2. Hm, it depends on how your child manage Chinese. If he does quite well in CL, he should be able to manage. If there’s a will, there’s a way! -

We really need it
This morning went to SCGS open house,
quite surprise with the school condition
I mean we went to NYGH and DHS during DSA and they are super old schools but still SCGS looks a bit run down already
Talked to one of their teacher, she said their admission in Y1 around 60% are from their own primary school
so we don’t really have hope for this school anymore (bcos of our citizenship)
4 class for IP (30students/class)
4 class for O level (+-35 students/class)
Most likely their COP stays at AL8 for 2022
Plus point:
Location is superb 5

Hi. You can put SCGS O as first choice and CCHM as second choice. At AL9 (no HCL), CCHM should still be (pretty) safe. She will only be able to appeal to SCGS O if she meets the COP. Last year that was AL8.

Hi parents,
My daughter got 7(P) with Higher Tamil.
Q1. Need your recommendations on the choices.
1. RGS - COP 4-6
2. MGS IP - COP 4-7
3. Cedar IP - COP 4-8
4. National JC - COP 4-8
5. SCGS IP - COP 4-8
6. Temasek JC - COP 4-8
Q2. Can she apply for SAP school even though she has not taken Chinese? Can she attend Higher Tamil from other nearby schools offering it?
Thank you in advance.
