All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

Thank you jedamum for your info …
Rulang is a good school so not sure if they accept PV under phase2B? Need to give the school a call to check up.
Anyone any idea when rulang open for PV application? -
mom2boys,
Hougang is kind of far from jurong, so not sure if this is can be your long term solution ! -
Can working parents do PV?
Can any good souls share with me? -
fredia_phionna,
I attended a briefing for PV at West Grove. When the principal asked how many parents are working, almost all the parents there raised up their hands
The school gave us a list of duties available. Gate duties start at 6:55am - 7:25am. So I guess working parents can only take gate duties. They normally take 2 times a week, so they will finish 40 hours after 40 weeks. They can also take leave to help out at those full day events like racial harmony day. -
mom2boys:
hi to all parents who child is born in 2004. : - ) My elder daughter is born in that year too. Based on my info, 2004 birth population is the smallest during the 2002 to 2005. Will it affect the schools quota of intake?
hello ggd,ggd:
Hello
I am new here, like to find out from all the experienced parent how to go for PV for my child born 2004. Is it a bit early?
I used to stay in Jurong west with my mom, near Rulang <1km, but shifted to Choa Chu Kang 5 yrs ago. And I have change my address to CCK. Any chance if I can still used my mom address to register my child to rulang, if I am willing to sacrify my time for PV? Anyone know which period of time rulang open for PV registration?
Really appreciate your advise.
my eldest child born in 2004 too..actually i stayed in hougang, but my mom stays taman jurong, i thought of using her address if i decided to register my to rulang too..cos my son used to be under my mom's care till recently when my 2nd boy is born, i brought 2 of them back to hougang cos my mom can't handle caring of 2boys..send my eldest son to childcare while my younger one care by my maid (of 10yrs) with my MIL at home...still deciding bet hougang or jurong..read the comments on pri, rulang produces top student everyyear..
Ai tong and nan yang is the schools i am looking in it... any advices? -

Low birthrate => less competition for places in primary schools... so good for everyone. The MoE is very cognisant of the birthrate and will advise schools on how many places to allocate for each specific cohort. Schools will respond either by adjusting the number of classes or class sizes accordingly.

Both are excellent schools, and Nanyang is one of the top 5 schools in the nation. -
Heard that Aitong is a very good school too. Anyone has any experience getting PV from the school? Are they receptive for PV application? Also considering getting a place near Bishan just to get to 1km near school.

Based on statistics for the past few years, most Phase 2B in RGPS has no balloting. It is reasonable to conclude that if you get into PVG of RGPS, you’re almost 100% gauranteee a place?
Any Clue? -
Hi,
Does any body knows that how many years before enrolment do I need to register and complete the volunteer work?
Thank you. -
U need to fulfill 40 hrs. Depends on what the school’s needs are…they will ask you to help in those areas.
