Hi… I am thinking of making Declaration for Caregiver for my parent’s address as it is less than 1km to my preferred school for my child.
Can anyone confirm that despite doing so, we’ll still be balloting under the 1-2km pool and not the < 1km pool…?
Thank you in advance! -

Yes, you will be under the 1-2km group.

Hello parents, got a quick question for experts here. My child has gained entry in 2C under the 1-2km category from school. Due to family circumstances, I need to move to another place, which is still within 1-2km. Do I need to inform the school or MOE of the address change? Thanks in advance.

If u’re still within the OneMap specified 1-2km category, u shld be fine. Once u change address, u’ll be required to inform the sch immediately to facilitate mail communication fr MOE/sch.

Hihi, wanted to find out 2 things:
1. P1 registration typically commences in June?
2. For house rental, is there a minimum period we need to stay there prior to the P1 registration? Or the only requirement is just the 30 months lock in period that we need to adhere if our child enters a school based in the distance category?
TIA -

1. The answer really depends on the Phase you are in. Unofficial registration for Phase 2A or Phase 2B would probably have started 2 to 3 years prior.

2. Refer to https://www.moe.gov.sg/primary/p1-registration/home-address. The 30-month stay requirement is clearly explained. -

1. I understand where you are coming from, eg parents doing volunteer works would have “started” years earlier. But what I want to know is really just a gauge of when the ACTUAL P1 registration starts yearly.
2. I know of the 30mths requirement that commences at the registration all the way till end of P2. What I’m asking the experts here is whether there are any requirement at the point of registration for rental (cos not sure if I missed out or misread anything from the MOE website). E.g if we starts renting in May, can we use the address for P1 registration when the registration commences in June?
Another related question is… do they look at the length of the lease period to see if it lasts for the entire 30mths? Cos we prefer a short lease then extend the lease if we can’t purchase a unit we want since we may move within the 30mths (of cos will move within the distance category for which the child has been registered with)? -

1. If you are looking for 2023 registration, Phase 1 will be starting in some schools within the next few weeks. Hence, when the \"actual\" P1 registration starts depends on which Phase you are in. Refer to MOE for the different phases: https://www.moe.gov.sg/primary/p1-registration/registration-phases-key-dates

2. MOE requirement is \"reside at the address used for registration for at least 30 months from the start of the P1 Registration Exercise, which is 29 June 2022 for the 2022 P1 Registration Exercise\" (dates being last year dates). No one is interested whether your rent starts a month before, a week before or a day before, as long as you stay at the same address for at least 30 months. You can move inside the 30 months window as long as it's within the same distance priority (or better).
HOWEVER, if you leave it too late, your address would not be updated when the P1 registration exercise commences. In such cases, you will not be able to use the P1-Internet System (P1-IS) and would need to use the online form. You will need to submit the necessary documents and probably need to email the relevant documents to the school during the phase that you are registering for.
The answers can be found in the FAQ. -

For Phase 2A, if a ballot exercise is required due to overwhelming number of registrants, am I right to say that the school would look through the list and tell those who are outside 2km that they would not get a seat?
To secure the chance of getting into the school, can I rent a room and use it as my address for P1 registration? Or must I rent the whole house?
