For Phase 2A, if a ballot exercise is required due to overwhelming number of registrants, am I right to say that the school would look through the list and tell those who are outside 2km that they would not get a seat?

To secure the chance of getting into the school, can I rent a room and use it as my address for P1 registration? Or must I rent the whole house?
If a phase is oversubscribed, most school admins will call up those that have no chance to ballot, but I think that is discretionary.

As for rental, I believe the rule is that the NRIC of one of the parents MUST be that of the rental flat. I'm not sure if the whole family can squeeze inside one room, but there are no rules that say otherwise.

Thank you for the response. I am just wondering if we have to show the lease agreement in order to prove that we rent a room there? Shouldn’t be, right - if the IC already reflected the address?

I rmbr the year we register DS for P1, the sch rejected the couple fr registering as the MOE system input throws out. The staff advised them to go get both parents’ addresses in syn at police post before they close for the day. I don’t know if they made it. If it’s just technical overlook, maybe able to get it sorted out at Police Stn, but if both parents are not staying together for whatever reasons, they wld need legal documentary support. Renting a room may be tricky. Not sure how it’ll help u progress yr child’s registration.

You may check the details from the MOE website

I am looking to rent a unit also. Should the lease agreement be signed at least 30 months? Can I use a 2 years lease agreement for P1 registration? Hope some one can answer my question. Thank you very much !

                1. If you are looking for 2023 registration, Phase 1 will be starting in some schools within the next few weeks. Hence, when the \"actual\" P1 registration starts depends on which Phase you are in. Refer to MOE for the different phases: https://www.moe.gov.sg/primary/p1-registration/registration-phases-key-dates

                2. MOE requirement is \"reside at the address used for registration for at least 30 months from the start of the P1 Registration Exercise, which is 29 June 2022 for the 2022 P1 Registration Exercise\" (dates being last year dates). No one is interested whether your rent starts a month before, a week before or a day before, as long as you stay at the same address for at least 30 months. You can move inside the 30 months window as long as it's within the same distance priority (or better).

HOWEVER, if you leave it too late, your address would not be updated when the P1 registration exercise commences. In such cases, you will not be able to use the P1-Internet System (P1-IS) and would need to use the online form. You will need to submit the necessary documents and probably need to email the relevant documents to the school during the phase that you are registering for.

The answers can be found in the FAQ.

You can use a 2 year lease agreement for P1 Registration.
However, upon expiry of the lease, if you are not able to get an extension, the onus is on you to look for another unit at the same distance priority or better.

                      Hi Parents,

I have a dilemma which I hope you could help me out.

We just realised that the school (Let’s call it School X) that we had been targeting for Phase 2C may see a huge change in balloting statistics, due to a few mega launches announced for Q2 2023. These are all within 1km. Coincidentally, we have been eyeing a new property which also have a relatively good school within 1km (Let’s call it School Y). However, due to certain circumstances beyond our control, we are not sure when the OTP for the new property can be signed.

My question is, can we use our current address for Phase 2C for School X and if we fail to get in, can we then use our (potentially) new address for Phase 2C(S) for School Y? There’s no FAQ on MOE’s website on whether a different address can be used for different phases. I supposed its not a common scenario.

                      Thanks in advance!

First off, if School Y is really hot, it might not even be in Phase 2CS.
Secondly, I think there is a deadline to declare your home address before the start of the exercise. I'm not sure if you can change it with the exercise in progress. Better check with moe.
