Frankly, I am at a dilemma whether to switch my P3 and P2 to LCentral next year. They enjoy BC classes but I feel that it also voice down to their results. So we are trying to monitor their results before making the move.


My P3 continues to be challenge with her tenses. So we need to work on her separately at home to sort of make her more conscious to check her work,etc… It doesn’t come naturally to her yet.

My girl is attending BC Pri 1 course. Their teaching style is more ‘enrichment’ than ‘tuition/drilling’. Lessons are made fun, not dry at all, my girl enjoys it. Some times they will have hands-on activities like cooking, or watch movies.

So, if you are looking for ‘tuition-like’ lessons, or want ur child to get ahead of their peers by learning at advanced pace, you may be dissapointed. From the worksheets they bring back, it will appear as though they cover very little. However, i believe tat’s becos they do a lot of non-worksheet activities in class. There’s also no homework or spelling at all.

the parent of my son’s classmate (P1) said British Council course is too easy for him so he withdrawed from it after only a few lessons…and they managed to get pro-rata refund…


why too easy? Can any parents share your kids’ experience?
is the course not exam-focus? thus not much worksheet, thus too easy?
or they put together kids of mixed level of capability into one class, thus too easy for higher learner?

so u put her there to develop her fondness of lang? or you want her to expose her to native speaker?
the last two questions are my purpose as I am looking for a non-exam focus program for my son who not yet interested in language...

Indeed, when i compare with my friend's Eng centre, there's a gap in standard. Eg, her child is already learning phrases and idioms for compo writing, do lots of written work in class, and has homework and spelling each week. However, i understand that the child isn't really enjoying.

For BC, it's good for kids who need to instill an interest, or who doesn't respond well to traditional, dry, classroom-style teaching.

For my girl, she used to be very slow in english, luckily she manage to be 'on track' by the time she reaches P1

I sign up BC partly becos of it's convenient location and timing (i can send both my kids at the same time slot), and since she's already on track, i tot there's no need to be too 'kan cheong', so even enrichment also can lor, idea is just to maintain her standard. But, I may stop her next yr as it's very ex, and also i think she can manage on her own.

And yes, i like that teacher is ang mo, she now some times can imitate british accent, ha ha !

i want my son to be exposed to native speaker so that he can speak better Eng...I like ang mo accent...

i already called BC and there are only limited seats....think will go down to sign up this weekend....
