ya. I explained to her that day itself. told her my reasons. She just replied \"baby don't want to drink milk so i tried to feed him\"

She always has something to deny any mistake she made.
Not a trustworthy helper to keep. You can train skill but attitudes cannot be trained. They’ll always want to issue excuses to get out of trouble. She doesn’t sound like humble & will respect eyer type. I’m sorry that’s the impression I get.

Good that u finally hv helper’s leave confirmed.

Paying for her airfare is a given. ✅

Why do u need to pay her both 15 days leave and salary during her leave of absence? That’s double dip.

You’ll not be charged Levy during her leave so that means you do not need to pay her salary. If u’re paying her for 15 days of leave, that’s ex-gratis & at yr will, and granted to her when she returns to yr employment?

Btw, 2 weeks’ leave calculated at 14 days, no?

Yes, employer has to pay for the return airfare.
            Sorry for my mis-comm.
I mean I hv to pay her 1 to 31 Oct salary though she will be in Philippines during 1 to 15 Oct.

The challenge is to get respite care available as the same period when helper is away. Else I dont know how or who will look after my dad.

            Thank you.

You don't have to pay her when she is on home leave, unless you have it stated in your employment contract with her that you will be paying her even when she is on home leave.

Tks so much for this info.

Her contract will be due in early Sep 2023. This means I need to renew her WP, buy her insurance, agree on the new contract etc in jun or jul.

Her 1st contract (2019-2021) has a statement that if she extends her contract, she will be entitled to 15 days of paid leave (inclusive of a return airfare to her City of origin).

Her 2nd contract (2021-2023) which was DIY drafted by me, I stated employer to provide only a return airfare to Manila.

Now I dont know whether to refuse paying her 15 days of salary when she isnt in Spore and then worry if she may leave.

I think most likely I will swallow this bitter bill and remind her that in her current contract, am not required to pay her 15 days of leave.

She has already been working with you for 4years? I am assuming that since you are renewing her contract her performance is acceptable. Personally if in your shoes, to entice her to come back and continue, I will offer that 1/2 mth pay, maybe even more, as incentive for her to come back. Sort of like a sign on bonus and that amount will be paid only when she comes back. And yes, I will make sure she knows that base on her contract and by MOM law, I am not obligated to pay. I will do that cos, if she does not come back, it will cost me a lot more to find a replacement and who knows what I will get.

Yes, more likely I will just pay that 1/2 mth and all will be happy.

What is the procedure to inform MOM that I dont hv to pay for the 15 days of levy? Tks.

MOM does not require us to pay salary to FDW during home leave.

But for Filipino domestic helpers, in order for FDW (Phillipines) to return to SG to work, she will need to get the employment contract verified by the Philippines Embassy. The standard contract issued by Embassy and used by many maid agencies have the clause that they are entitled to paid leave. If you sign a contract that doesnt provide for paid leave, not sure if it can be verified by Phillipines Embassy
