But AC also has ACSI. They churn out top performers not only in academics, but in sports too but these are not transparent in sch stats, as these figures may be hidden underneath DSA, IB etc.
ACS affiliation COP is just as good as any neighborhood sec school in Singapore. e.g Jurong Sec COP of AL18 is much higher than ACS Barker AL22. -
The fuss, petition is from alumni rather than existing parents? Tjose who worry abt their future generations?
But we all recognise that the pedagogy used in boys sch will be different from that in coed sch. -
What makes the brand so recognised?
Better sch leaders, teachers, resources, pedagogy…?
So far, no one talks abt how the teaching staff will be shuffled among thr 3 schs.
Sch leaders will be shared between two schs?
Now with bigger plot in T, 3 schools can share even more resources, facilities until A… J move out completely.
Will there be a new church, boarding facilities… What else? -

Tengah is only a 30min drive from current ACSP Barker. South west of Choa Chu Kang and west of Bukit Batok.
Bishan very far flung meh?
I stay in Novena and I only need 10 mins to drive to Bishan or just 3 MRT stations away. On the other hand, where exactly is Tengah? Seriously I have no idea. The petition used “far flung” to describe the location.
And I didn’t state that prime location equals to higher academic standards, my only assertion is that location matters to school. An actual case comes to mind, when Hwa Chong JC was required to relocate to a temporary site in Bukit Batok back in the early 1990’s, the school’s COP took a hit for a few years and only recovered when it moved back to its Bukit Timah site.
ACSP in Tengah could well be a good school but would it be better than had it stayed put in Barker Road? I doubt so and so do all the ACSP alumni and parents. Which is why there is a sense of disquiet among this group.
Doubt that ACSI COP will be affected by moving ACSP to Tengah.
There may be some shift in P1 subscriptions in phase 2B to Princess E and Rulang etc may be affected. -

Your comparison is flawed. AL22 is the affiliated COP set by the ACS board, a privilege meant for ACSP and ACSJ only. Outsiders cannot enter ACS Barker even if they attain this affiliated COP.

An apple to apple comparison would be the ACS Barker COP for non-affiliated students, which is AL10. This COP is based on actual supply and demand of the PSLE cohort just like Jurong Sec. -

Often in life, it is not what you know, but who you know, which matters most. And ACSJ with all the ties to old money will be a popular networking choice -

AL COP is determined by the AL score of the last student with the lowest score.

JURONG Sec is AL18 while ACS is AL22.
At Jurong Sec an AL19 and above will not be eligible while at ACS an AL22 student will still be accepted.
AL standard is the same regardless if student is affiliated or not and that is the best way to determined the academic standard of sec school. And this contradict your statement that prime district school have higher standard or COP.
Jurong Sec is not the only neighbourhood school with AL COP standard higher that acs AL22. -
There are some truth in location will affect demand and also people tend to associate better with others from similar culture/background.
To the decision makers, they are not too concern about the above. Demand at Tengah will be better than now. And ACS network can be expanded to other segment of the population. It is in align with the nation policies.
In general It’s the current alumni that may have concerns. But it is not as bad as they think. There will be some inconvenience to them. But there are other new benefits to them too. -
Let’s see if NYPS will be next in line to set up schools in Pasir Ris, Woodlands and Jurong West hahahhahaa.
Honestly Innova JC is one of the newest JC that was built but when merger arrived, Innova moved into YJC, a much older JC. Now Innova is vacant for a few years but what a waste of resources…there aren’t any branded schools in Woodlands at all both pri and sec level yet the population catchment area is huge. -

You are wrong and future parents reading this should know they are going down the wrong rabbit hole here.
