The fact is that many couples whose kids might be affected have not even got married yet, and to think about thieir children and grandchildren is rather premature? I think we can allow future families to decide for themselves, rather than postulate all these scenarios.
There are already many families who have different gender siblings in different schools which are not near each other. Families will figure something out, either by choosing home location or schools to apply to. I believe that some who are actively discussing here don’t even have boys in ACS, so the points are moot? -

Seems like the application rate went up for all the flat types in Feb 2023 vs Dec 2022. The next thing to see if Feb 2023 BTO (and coming new launches) will be more expensive than Dec’s batch, especially for flats to built within 1km of the future ACSP site
I think Tengah is already very popular, even before the ACSP news is made known. HDB / government doesn't need the school to drive up the subscription rate for Tengah.
Project / Flat Type / No of Units / Number of Applicants
Feb 2022
Tengah (Parc Flora @ Tengah) / 2-room Flexi / 101 / 844
Tengah (Parc Flora @ Tengah) / 3-room / 85 / 362
Tengah (Parc Flora @ Tengah / Plantation Creek) / 4-room / 570 / 1813
Tengah (Parc Flora @ Tengah / Plantation Creek) / 5-room /517 / 2406
Dec 2022
Tengah (Garden Waterfront I @ Tengah) / 2-room Flexi / 578 / 1072
Tengah (Garden Waterfront I @ Tengah) / 3-room / 89 / 326
Tengah (Garden Waterfront I @ Tengah / Garden Waterfront II @ Tengah) / 4-room / 740 / 1933
Tengah (Garden Waterfront I @ Tengah / Garden Waterfront II @ Tengah) / 5-room / 670 / 2849
Notwithstanding, no one will say no to more (school) options, especially for established schools. Next up Feb 2023 BTO

I’m with you on this. Those who will be personally short-changed can surely speak up for themselves.

Yes, definitely she meant time wasted on traveling.
But in the example cited, the family lives within 1km of SCGS Pri and daughter is with SCGS Pri. ACSP Barker is just next door. So alumni dad has to send son to Tengah after the relocation and time will be wasted on traveling and it’s troublesome.
I am not sure how many such parents will give up SCGS Pri (which is affiliated to SCGS sec) for ACSP Tengah especially when girls there have no affiliation to the highly coveted MGS Sec.
For ACSP Tengah boys staying in Tengah, they better do well in PSLE, or else they need to travel from Tengah to Newton for ACS Barker. At least 2hrs+ per day traveling to and fro if taking public transport.
As for cutting travelling time, parents can choose to put both sons and daughters in Tengah, or continue at barker for sons and another school (hopefully next door) for their daughters. You don’t have to give up the daughter’s school if logistic is something you don’t mind.
My observations. Most ACSP/GEP boys want to get into ACSI rather than barker. The ACSJ boys too. We cannot control how well these boys will do at psle, teens will get to school if they want that dream school, they will have to sort it out when they do their secondary school selection. There are other options available if traveling to barker road is not ideal. -

I agree absolutely! It’s baffling how imaginations can go when one postulate & I don’t think precious time shld be wasted on this. It’s definitely not possible for us to ‘predict’ diff family’s decision to move or not move to Tengah just for schools. There are other considerations, for each family’s motivation. Despite going to new towns & forgoing govt subsidies, some young families wld still opt for Tengah. It does seem attractive to some to put both sons & daughters to same ‘branded’ sch so might just do the move. Similarly, I’ve known of some who wld give up their privileges as alumni & just contented to hv kids walk to neigbourhood schools & not chase brandings. As the new town grows, I’m sure young families will find their way to adjust. 船到桥头自然直.

Yes they can and they are speaking up for themselves. Their strong opinions (coming from many directions and point views) can be seen in the petition’s comments section, not KSP.

I’m not sure about marriage but I’m pretty sure that none of the boys affected by this move are born yet. Probably still swimming around! Hence, I’m not sure how useful these scenarios (which even if true, are likely to be a tiny minority) are, apart from self entertainment.

ACS Barker generous affiliation COP of AL22 is actually lower than many neighborhood sec school (e.g. Jurong Sec School COP is AL18). From MOE website, we can pretty much confirm that majority of ACS students who do well at PSLE will mostly end up at ACS(I) instead of ACS(B).
I think we are on the same page then.

Indicative COP Affiliated\t/ Non-affiliated
Express\t 11 - 22 / 8 - 10
Normal Academic 21 - 25 / 21 - 21
Normal Technical\t 25 - 28 / 26 - 26
At ACS (I) affiliation score range is around AL7 - 13. (Express)
If we consider school selection purely on academic standards, my guess is most ACS(T) KSP will aim to send their kids to ACS(I) instead of ACS(B). And it's also likely that ACS(T) students who score within AL13 to AL18 range may choose another school instead of ACS (B).
