      Also,
imagine, 180 pri sch with 6 exco in their Prefectorial board each,
+ their respective CCA head in those 180 pri sch

leadership should have more potential applicants than badminton.
      Totally agree.
Pray hard that my DS profile (Vice Head Prefect + CCA badminton Captain + AL8 (if maintain during cut-off)) able to out beat those potential and get shortlisted... 🙏

I think for your child to get shortlisted (Vice Head Prefect) isn’t difficult. The challenge is to display the qualities beyond what’s being presented.

if you read the criteria for Leadership talent area, most schools (especially IP and popular schools) are going beyond profile and asking for concrete evidences / actual display of leadership in action. Those are the questions that will trip over most students because beyond this title and that title, a lot of them don’t have the experience of organizing community / school based activities that impact a sizable group of people.

I feel that for leadership it is more subjective and students must demonstrate over and beyond what a typical pri Sch prefect can do to distinguish himself. Sports is however more straight forward.

Specifically in the badminton world, the players and coach should know each other la and the top badminton boy schools like RI, HCI, ACSI are highly selective and given that there are only 3 dsa options, do use your options wisely.

I brought my nephew to RI open house some years back. For leadership DSA, the presenter shared that it was critical the applicant displayed his leadership qualities. In order words, the sch doesn't want the applicant simply to list down all the dots (head prefect, class monitor, CCA president etc). Instead, the sch expects successful applicants to join the dots. In order words, show sch how applicant takes initiative, for example, introduce new programs in sch to support certain objectives, and not just follow instructions from teachers.

In a sense, successful applicants do not even need to hold the leadership positions such as head prefects/vice head in his sch (those are just general guidelines). In my kid's 6 yrs in RI, I've observed that the sch loves students who take initiatives to run programs for the under-privileged. I think recently there was a news broadcast of a boy who dropped his CCA to record podcasts for educational sharing with the blessing of the sch.

              Agree.
Probably need to prepare the interview portion as how to showcase himself to the school.
              Thanks, floppy. 🙏

The earliest ones are usually in April. Most are in May.

Monitor your target schools’ websites yourself as not many will post here for their competitors to see. I suggest you clear out your Saturdays (tuitions etc) to make time for them.

Thank you Zac’s mum. At the moment, from what I know TJC is not having open house this April or May. Hopefully more can input the dates so we can plan our schedules.
