Another comment from minister that i don't quite understand. He says 'The content of most of Singapore’s A-Level syllabuses is already similar or narrower than the international syllabuses used as benchmarks for comparison'..

so he does not think or agree that Singapore A levels papers are tougher than UK based ones? Or maybe he means content similar, but never mention standard of papers.
He is saying don't expect the content of A level syllabuses to be reduced. we take out PW is very good already. we may also increase the content because ours is \"narrower\".

A pass in PW is necessary for entry to local universities. So the vast majority of kids still have incentive to do proper work to pass.

At least it takes away the stupid stress of in the transition year of JC1 trying to click with new peers and trying so hard to get A1. I’m assuming the bar to pass PW is not as high as A1. If they’re gonna set a quota like only 50% will pass then we’re all in deep trouble.

Cannot be too high bar...... That's saying 50% of A level kids cannot make it to university. The PW bar, will be something like the MT bar, I assume. Pass can liao.

Ya, hopefully that means just put in a reasonable team effort, and produce a sufficiently coherent & respectable final presentation.

Food for thought: Did everyone pass MT? Is MT a easy subject?
So, is PW going to be easier since it is just a pass/fail?

PW will be easier in that it will be less time consuming because currently, everyone is aiming for A or B; in future, all are aiming to pass.
MT can be read at the O level HMT level, H1 level, or MT B. There are various levels. So I don't think we can say MT is hard per se.

They finally realised that PW is useless but no gumption to remove it totally. Because removing the PW will render all the PW teachers useless.
On one hand want to emulate the project/research aspect of IB, on the other hand don't have the expertise to do it for every subject. So create a PW .... 🤷
TOTALLY AGREED WITH THIS. PW is really a waste of time.

These ministers are saying only half-truth.

MT in A-level is really easy to PASS. How tough can it be to fail?

                      Likewise for PW.

I still don’t quite understand. Why can’t the implementation be done immediately? I’m very much doubtful that the change will have an adverse impact.
