Is there truth that once you select NUS Medicine as first choice and Dentistry as second choice. NUS will no longer consider you for Dentistry since they are not place as first choice - Vice versa. Then first choice seems to be the only choice unless you are also considering other fields of study.
If you like Medicine and Dentistry, you must only place them either as 1st or 2nd choice . 1st choice is considered as your main course of choice and usually be offered once you are being shortlisted. Both courses are very competitive, so placing them on 1st or 2nd option does affect your chances as it depends heavily how many applicants are vying for both courses. So those opted as 1st choice will be shortlisted first.
There are chances you might be called for interviews for both and being offered both courses, here you have to make a wise choice between the two after that.

According to my daughter. Assuming you perform so well for both. NUS will only issue an offer letter for a place in either Medicine or Dentistry (depending on 1st choice). They will not issue offer letters to both for you to decide. Anyone know of students being offered both Medicine & Dentistry? :?
Not sure. As my DS 1st choice is Medicine. He passed through MDT and got interview for Dentistry. He had only letter of offer for Medicine which he accepted early as non acceptance at specific time means you reject the course. If recollect, Medicine first batches acceptance is much earlier than dentistry.

Dentistry is 4 yr and Medicine is 5 yrs as baseline. There is a difference in total fees and bonds as well.

All the best! Enjoy the process.. but it can be nail biting as well especially the waitlist ones. Both Medicine and Dentistry tests can be a bit stressful but if you use the skills you have learnt, you should be fine.

For BMAT, is it advisable to attend preparation course? Any provider to recommend?

As BMAT can only be taken once a year, is it advisable to take during JC1 for experience purpose and take again the following year? Easier and less effort to redo a test then a new one… Thanks.

Yup... noted. It will be replaced by UCAT. Similar to my previous queries on BMAT, will it apply to UCAT as well? Thanks

I suppose similar to the national exams, if one doesn't do well in the first round u can consider to retake the next year. If resources and willingness are not obstacles, can always go gain experience for UCAT? :scratchhead:

Has anybody/DS/DD taken UCAT before? I read that you receive your results on the spot. Can share your experience?

Only NTU requires UCAT starting from year 2024 onwards. NUS UCAT not required for local students. You can refer to NUS YLLSoM and NTU LKCSoM requirements here.

                    NTU LKCSoM https://www.ntu.edu.sg/medicine/education/bachelor-of-medicine-and-bachelor-of-surgery-%28mbbs%29/entry-requirements

The details of new UCAT requirement will be available on NTU website on April 2023 https://www.ntu.edu.sg/medicine/about-us/faqs

                    NUS YLLSoM https://medicine.nus.edu.sg/prospective-students/nus-medicine-pre-requisites/

NTU LKCSoM guidelines and details of their new UCAT requirements will only be put on their webpage on April 2023. So in the meantime google around to understand more about it and have a hands on practice on it first. See if you can handle it with confidence then decide whether you want to take up coaching to buckle your skills up.

I read that UCAT is not going to be easier than BMAT even though UCAT don't have the part on Biology and Physic. UCAT test more on your mental dexterity and alertness, also UCAT is a Computer base test exams. So you must be able to answer and type fast so that you have ample time to spare on your next questions. As you are only given only two hours for so many questions.

Find out about UCAT here and give it a try first https://www.themedicportal.com/application-guide/ucat/

I have read that you will get your result scores after you have finished the test. The system will release it on the spot. The results are meant for you to know how well you have performed. But the medical school will still have to go through all the applicants results to short list them for interviews.
