Tom, Bob and Kel;vin started running at the same point X at the same time round a circular track. Tom ran in a clockwise direction but Bob and Kelvin ran in an anti-clockwise direction. Tom took 7 minutes to complete each round. He met Bob after every 4 minutes and he met Kelvin after every 2 minutes. Each of them ran at the same uniform speed throughout.
a) What was the ratio of Toms speed to Kelvin's speed to Bob's speed?Ans:4:10:3.Ans says T : K = 4: 3 -----How?
b) When Tom and Bob met again at X after 21 minutes, Tom had already run 4200m. What was the distance ran by Kelvin when Tom met Bob at X after 21 minutes?

Need help with the following questions :

1) Rulang P6 SA1 2009 Paper 2 Qn 4
Simon and Pete cycled round a 9.6-km circular track at a uniform speed.
They started off from the same point X but in opposite directions.
They cycled past each other every 10 minutes.
If Simon took 24 minutes to complete a round, what was Pete's speed ?
(ans : 33.6 km/h)

2) Rulang P6 SA1 2009 Paper 2 Qn 12
A cleaner had to wash all the cars parked at a multi-storey car park by the end of the day.
In the morning, the number of cars he washed was 2/5 of the number of cars that was not washed yet.
In the afternoon, he washed another 26 cars.
As a result, the total number of cars washed became 4 fewer than 9/14 of the total number of cars at the car park.
What was the total number of cars parked at the multi-storey car park ?
(ans : 84)

3) PeiHwa P6 SA1 2009 Paper 2 Qn 17
Gibson had 50-dollar, 20-dollar and 10-dollar tickets for a school funfair in the ratio 1 : 5 : 4
The total value of the funfair tickets was $3420.
a) Find the number of each type of tickets he had ?
b) After selling 1/4 of the 10-dollar tickets and a few 20-dollar tickets, he found that 2/11 of the remaining tickets were 50-dollar tickets.
How many 20-dollar tickets did he sell ?
(ans : a = 18 50-dollar, 90 20-dollar, 72 10-dollar
b = 17)

The figure shows a solid made of 3 layers of cubes. William wants to add 2 more square layers to the lowest layer of the solid shown.
a) How many cubes must he add on?
b) If he paints all the exposed surfaces of all the cubes in the first 3 top layers, how many surfaces must he paint?

(a) 25*2 = 50 cubes

(b) Layer 1 = 5 surfaces
Layer 2 = (4*2) + (4*3) = 8+12 = 20
Layer 3 = (3*4*2) + (4*3) = 24 + 12 = 36
Total = 61 surfaces

I have done my own model diagram and explain it my way. The idea is pretty much the same. The \"If\" statements are important in this question so you need to take note.

question 8:

During a sale, the price of a skirt was reduced from $256.80 to $214 inclusive of GST of 7%. What was the decrease in price of the skirt, excluding GST? Ans:40.

Skirt before GST before discount = 256.800.93= 238.82
Skirt before GST after discount = 2140.93 = 199.02

Decrease in skirt before GST = $39.80 (Ans in 2 significant figure, then $40)

In one step will be, discount excluding GST = (256.8-214)*0.93 = $39.80
