Another Agency to check out for Elderly care is CareLink, their nurses will train your helpers to look after your Elderly parents at home tailored to their specific needs. I find their cost to be reasonable and definitely better than those $15 courses that are being offered.

        Hi

Need some advice on this please.

I received WhatsApp and calls from different numbers yesterday with regard to my helper’s loan including copy of her work permit. The pax threaten to come to my place to collect $. Helper denied but admitted it happened in the past but loan paid.
There is plan to discontinue her service sometime this year, before this incident happen which we are considering to bring it forward.

What should we do now as I don’t want my family and me to be pestered?

        Thank you.

          What I’ll do :-

          1. First report police & if police taking statements fr yr helper, time her departure right after interrogation
          2. Book airticket ahead of time & ensure all young & elderly family members are not home when u’re mobilizing helper home.
          3. You can send helper till she crosses Departure hall within ICA sight or engaged a runner to help u do the job
          4. Consider delisting yr number(s)

Thanks, do we need to give extra month salary if no notice period? Note: notice period is stated in the contract.

                Am sharing what I learnt:

My helper who is looking after my dad will be having her home leave (2 wks) in late Sep.
I need Respite Care service to look after my dad during the period when the helper is away.

                1) Get the Nursing Home Respite Care Application form (ie Form) from any AIC
                2) Get ready the medical report and x ray within 6 mth from the admission to the Nursing Home. In my case, I planned to bring my dad to Tamp polyclinic for the x ray and the doc to complete the Form in Jun. Prior appt is needed before going to the polyclinic. Est cost $100 (not payable by MA)

One can indicate the choice of the Nursing Homes. One has to indicate the start and end dates of the stay. The min stay is 7 days and max is 30 days for subsidized rates per calendar year.

The cost of each day is $100 to $150 before subsidy.

Thanks for sharing. You’re very resourceful. 👍🏻

A frd of mine also very dependant on helpers for her dementia mum. She had to resort to A&E admission & try to stretch her stay as long as she can till she finds a helper. I’ve tried dissuading her fr burdening the hospital resources in that way. Gave her contact for those home nursing care helpers but she didn’t take up the option.

I learnt a lot from you.
Having a helper is no choice.

The premium for health INS for helpers is likely to increase much due to the increase in coverage from 15k to 60k. And she is going home for 2 wks this year while still receiving her salary. Am thinking no payrise for her this time.

                    \"bombs\" :
                    Return airfare plus travel INS
Respite care fees of about 17 days plus admin costs/consummables
                    health INS for helper
                    WP's renewal fee
An ang pow for her bday since it falls on the end/start of Contract
                    etc

Also the fees for 6mth Medical Examination is going up and up ...

I’ve learnt along the way too & happy to share. Just last 2 days managed to help ano check frd find a transfer Mynmar helper. Have do many asking to work in SG but they’re all locked in their country. None of them can get a passport to exit & those who choose to return, found themselves stuck with no jobs & living in fear of the corrupt & autocratic rule. Sad.

Am going to ask a sensitive qn:

How much do you pay your helper who looks after a senior in a household comprises 2 members ie senior and helper?
                        Thank you.
