Vacation after PSLE

Hi, what are the safe dates after PSLE exams for a long vacation? Is the last week of November considered safe to book or need to wait for secondary school registrations and formalities? Also, need your advice as to whether need to be back before Christmas or perhaps can extend until just before NYE.

Do u have younger kids in primary school? If so, then can (only) go during the 4 PSLE Marking Days in October.

Do u want to be physically present for PSLE Results Day? In 2022 it was 23 November. U can be overseas if u wish, can check results online.

Do u want to attend secondary school open houses onsite end-Nov before submitting the 6 options? If not, then just submit online from overseas.

Do u want to be physically present on S1 posting day, so that u can appeal if necessary? That date is usually a few days before Christmas. In 2022 it was 21 December. If you’re happy to be overseas to read the posting SMS, then u can remain overseas until school reopens.

Sec 1 registration can be done online. Buying uniforms can also be done online. At worst just wear P6 uniform on first day of school and no books yet cos first week is usually Orientation week. All communication from new school is via Parents Gateway and important dates can be checked on their website online remotely.

(TL,DR: Best time to go is beginning Dec, the first 3 weeks.)

Depends on school I think. Firstly, need to find out actual COP. If GO not answering phone, then have to head down. Maybe physical form or online form (they will inform u what docs required).

I rmbr we booked our long holidays to fly off the after PSLE. Some activities were missed, such as visit to various public organizations & camp organized by the school.


Most of the time, the school teachers will encourage kids to bring their card or boardgames to occupy themselves besides occasional visits or talks by seniors of affiliated schools.

Back then, we ensure that we’re back to receive the PSLE results & sec sch visitation. We took the chance to ensure we go thro the journey by public transport with our kids to prepare them for a more independent sec sch life, knowing they’ll be engaged with CCAs & language classes outside of school.
