      What is SHKK?

I agree with tankee, if getting in via pulling strings, better keep quiet about it.

Jim Roger's eldest daughter went into NYK via another method. And my RICH friend's son went into their choice of school using donation method...
well, JR's wife was reading to the kids on a regular basis. He can sure afford to stay within 1km. Phase 2B - all bases covered - and all aboveboard.

        jor:
Forgot to mention, my grandfather also serve on the Board of SHKK during his era. So prob will speak to the people at SHHK to see if they can issue letter. If really cannot, then really no choice.

If you/wife are a member of shhk, they can consider to issue you the letter. But I understand they have this internal system of determining eligibility - tenure of membership, service (how many hours YOU put in), endorsement from council members. All this will come into play to determine if you meet the mark. They did comment about some of their council members whose family weren't eligible to meet the mark - and although sad, there was naught.

Kindly note that getting letter is one thing, you still have to go register AT the school under 2B. And that part of the process is transparent.

And please, if you are thinking to go via back door (if that even exists), keep quiet about it. I'm a parent of humble origins and it sure rankles that people who are from the lucky gene pool gets it easier - even if it's true.

          Hi hquek,

Most of us register our darlings using the transparent process…for those who have some links to the school by lucky way, please keep quiet about it. I’m sure no principal of any school would want to face the board of directors at MOE (ie if news spread). Keep a low profile and NEVER tell the kids.

            Hi!
Yes, that is correct. But when they just came, he wanted to enrol his gal to NYK. Guess which method did he use? Bear in mind that there is a very long waiting list for NYK at all levels! And for people like us, we have to write in the apply for the PV for our Primary School of choice. Guess which other method did he use again, beside moving to within 1km?

But I must say that his wife is also contributing a lot of time to the school. Not sure if he is going to give talks to the parents of the school though...

Guess we could say they are special people with special contributions. Luckily, these people made-up a very small percentage.

I didn't lah, and don't have access anyway. Prefer to sleep better at night. 😉

ANDDDD, I think I better stop talking about backdoors and whatnots, seeing I have no experience.

Actually it doesn’t mean going to a good school will guarantee success in life… still depend on the child. I think.

for me, we are lucky that our old schools are still around and we are staying not far from the old school.

Yes, I totally agree. We can just open the door for them but the rest is depend on their hardwork.

Yes, not so healthy to spread around this \"backdoor\" thing. I got my dd into the school thru 2B PV and I told her that. I have stopped after the required 40hrs. But now she ask me to continue even after she is in P2 now. The reason is her classmates' parents are doing PV too. :stupid:

Yes, JR’s rich and he has resources which we do not have. But he’s also very approachable and down to earth.

Just this morning when it’s raining, he sent his daughter to school…on a bicycle.
