      Hello Lovely People

Recently, I heard that highlighters are not allowed so students cannot highlight parts of the question paper. Is this announced in every school?

Second, for science and eng open ended questions - my DD has long answers and it does not fit in especially the why/explain/describe/how questions. Did anyone face this problem?

      Seeking for some advise.

      Thanks so much
I recall from my child’s last year’s PSLE instructions that the kids are advised not to highlight any part of their answers, as that would render the scanning of their answer scripts illegible (you know the dark shadow blanking out the most important words…) But highlighting the question should be ok. Maybe your child’s school is just playing it safe by banning highlighters end of story.

Most tuition centres will train the kids to use their pen to underline, circle, box up important keywords in the questions. That is a good workaround (though less colourful).

Yes my child had the same problem, especially since his handwriting was medium sized (refused to write smaller). Just use ruler to draw a few more lines if have time. If no time then write freehand but hopefully straight-ish. He ends up drawing arrows everywhere to fill up available spaces. Legible can already.

I thought u were asking about how to answer those various qn types (I have no clue haha).

Thank you again 🙂 .. so extra lines should not be a problem... Many thanks

I do not know any assessment book, but this free video webinar (by Think Teach Academy) will give u some insights as to how to find contextual clues for comprehension cloze. I found their various videos quite useful for self-learning (as a parent), then watch together with my child.

                    Dear Parents,

Can other parents recommend some tuitions/holiday programs to prepare for PSLE - Science and Maths mainly (that does not burn a huge hole in the pocket)
Kid is good with basic concepts and scores around 80% and above for all subjects with no tution at the moment.
But I think a few months or refresher will do some good.

Look forward to some suggestions. Thanks and good luck to all of us 🙂
I saw the https://www.polymathlc.com.sg/ holiday program being shared in a parents groupchat. Perhaps you can consider?

I think it is very reasonably priced. I might sign my eldest up for the science online holiday program.

Hi, I am curious, for those schools at AL7-8 with affiliation for express & IP, any idea how many spots available for IP & Express I wonder. Would all the spots be filled up by the \"first round\" ie the \"first choice\"?

I am asking because those with AL8 is going to be high risk for ballot , subsequently the second choice should already moved to an AL9 or AL10 school to be safe .

Also thinking that maybe let the child relax a bit and just go for those non affiliation schools and with lower AL . As he seems to be struggling at this point at AL10 due to highly inconsistent attitude. :frustrated:

                        Popular choice order for boys:
                        1. ACSI IP track (AL7)
                        2. ACSI OP track (AL8) or SJI IP track (AL8) - see whether u prefer the school more or prefer the track more
                        3. SJI OP track (AL10)

Child’s actual PSLE result will determine your final range of choices. No point fretting over it now, just study hard.
